During the reign of David, there was a famine for three successive years; so David sought the face of the Lord. The Lord said,“ It is on account of Saul and his blood-stained house; it is because he put the Gibeonites to death.”

For three years in a row there wasn’t enough food in the land. That was while David was king. So David asked the Lord why he wasn’t blessing his people. The Lord said,“ It is because Saul and his family committed murder. He put the people of Gibeon to death.”

Now there was a famine in the days of David for three years, year after year. And David sought the face of the Lord. And the Lord said,“ There is bloodguilt on Saul and on his house, because he put the Gibeonites to death.”

There was a famine during David’s reign that lasted for three years, so David asked the Lord about it. And the Lord said,“ The famine has come because Saul and his family are guilty of murdering the Gibeonites.”

There was a famine in the days of David for three years, year after year; and David sought the face of Yahweh. Yahweh said,“ It is for Saul, and for his bloody house, because he put the Gibeonites to death.”

以色列族犯罪、背我命約、當獻之物為其攘竊、匿於器中、而佯循我命、故以色列族服咒敗北、不得禦敵、如不以當獻之物出於爾中、我不復佑爾。

我聞掃羅將至、果有此事乎、枝拉人將付我於其手乎、請指示我。耶和華曰、掃羅必至。

耶利米以旱乾之事、得耶和華默示、播告於眾、曰、猶大國懷憂、邑民衰絰、哀慘靡已、耶路撒冷號呼、升聞於上。長者遣少者汲水、井泉枯竭、挈其空瓶、含羞蒙首而歸。遍地無雨、土壤燥裂、耕者抱愧、而蒙厥首。郊原無草、麀產子而遺之。野驢立於童山、噏氣若野犬、無草而目盲。耶和華與、我罪戾孔多、爾鑒察之、雖屢背爾、願爾赦宥、彰爾仁慈。以色列族遭難之時、惟爾是望、得爾拯救、今爾不眷顧余、自視若旅人、偶過斯土、暫留一宿者然、曷故。爾見我臨難、不勝駭愕、若不能援手、昔日之權能安在、耶和華與、爾駐蹕於我間、我為爾民、請勿棄余。耶和華曰、斯民樂於背道、不回步履、故我不悅、念其罪愆、加以刑罰。耶和華告我曰、勿為斯民祈福。彼禁食籲我、我必不應、彼獻燔祭禮物、我不悅納、必以鋒刃、饑饉疾疫、滅之務盡。耶利米曰、主耶和華與、諸偽先知曾告斯民、必不飲刃、不受饑、安居斯土、永獲平康、出於耶和華所賜。耶和華曰、維彼先知、託我之名、普傳妄誕、我未嘗遣之、亦未嘗降諭、彼所言者、虛偽之異象、無憑之卜筮、中心所思之幻境。今我頒詔、諭彼偽先知之事、彼未嘗奉我所遣、猶託我名而告民云、斯土必無鋒刃饑饉之虞、彼先知必以鋒刃饑饉殲滅之。凡從其言者、必飲刃受饑、陳尸於耶路撒冷逵衢、以及妻室子女、無人瘞埋、蓋我使之慘罹惡報。爾以我言播告於民、耶利米曰、斯民遭難孔艱、可為晝夜痛哭流涕也。往於田、所見無非殺戮、入於邑、觸目盡是餓殍、先知祭司、往來貿易、不以為意。

大闢問耶和華曰、我可往擊非利士人否曰、可往擊非利士人、而救枝拉。

我籲上帝曰、爾毋以我為惡、即加譴責、亦必示以何故。

撒馬利亞糧絕、驢之一首、值金四十、鴿糞二升三合、值金二兩有半、

大闢問耶和華曰、非利士人我當往攻之乎、爾其以彼付我手乎。耶和華曰、往哉、我必付於爾手。

彼禱余、我垂聽之、彼遭難、我眷祐之、以手援之、俾得尊榮兮、

是以必求上帝而赴訴焉。上帝所為、大不可測、異不勝數。沛甘霖、潤土壤、

患難之際、禱告於我、我爾援、爾我頌兮、

大闢復問耶和華。耶和華曰、汝往枝拉、我將以非利士人付於爾手。

有婦人焉、以利沙曾甦其子、今告之曰、耶和華命必使饑饉、臨於斯土、歷至七載、爾與爾家、必當遷徙、隨爾所適、

基列之的庇人、以利亞告亞哈曰、我指所事以色列族之上帝耶和華而誓、今以後、數年間雨露不降、惟我言是聽。

大闢詢耶和華、耶和華曰、爾勿往前、宜襲其後、在桑林相對之所。

阿巴底為亞哈掌宮闈、寅畏耶和華、

王諭侍衛曰、耶和華之祭司、輔助大闢、知其逃遁、而不以告、故當殺之。王僕不敢遵命。王諭多益曰、汝擊祭司。以東人多益遂擊祭司、當日殺衣枲公服者八十五人。祭司之邑挪伯、男女、童稚、嬰孩、牛羊、及驢、皆擊以刃。
