因为我祖全家的人，在我主我王面前都算为死人，王却使仆人在王的席上同人吃饭，我现在向王还能辨理诉冤吗？”

蓋我祖全家、於我主我王前、咸如死者、然爾使僕列於同席者中、我尚有何理、可籲於王、

我祖全家、當殞沒於我主我王前、乃爾待臣僕、視若上賓、我尚有何詞、赴愬於王。

All my grandfather’s descendants deserved nothing but death from my lord the king, but you gave your servant a place among those who eat at your table. So what right do I have to make any more appeals to the king?”

You should have put all the members of my grandfather’s family to death, including me. Instead, you always provided what I needed. So what right do I have to make any more appeals to you?”

For all my father’s house were but men doomed to death before my lord the king, but you set your servant among those who eat at your table. What further right have I, then, to cry to the king?”

這樣、米非波設就住在耶路撒冷，因為他經常在王的席上喫飯，雖然他兩腿都瘸。

你和你眾子和僕人都要為他耕地，收進五穀，使你主人的眾子有飯喫；至於你主人的兒子米非波設、他卻要經常在我席上喫飯。』洗巴有十五個兒子、二十個僕人。

過了七年、那婦人從非利士地回來，就出去為自己的房屋和田地向王哀叫。

你這樣作很不好啊。我指着永活的永恆主來起誓，你們都該死，因為你們沒有保護你們的主上、永恆主所膏立的。現在你看看王頭旁的矛和水罐在哪裏！』

你向你僕人所施的一切慈愛一切忠信，我是太渺小而不配得的。我先前只拿着我的行杖過這約但河，如今我竟成了兩營了。

現在你要將他的子孫七人交給我們，我們好在永恆主面前把他們正法示眾在基遍永恆主的山上。』王說：『我要交給你們。』王因為在他們之間、在大衛與掃羅的兒子約拿單之間、有指着永恆主而起誓的約，就顧惜掃羅的孫子、約拿單的兒子、米非波設，不交出來，卻把愛雅的女兒利斯巴給掃羅生的兩個兒子、亞摩尼、米非波設，和掃羅的女兒米拉給米何拉人巴西萊的兒子亞得列生的五個兒子、交在基遍人手裏；基遍人就在永恆主面前把他們正法示眾在山上；這七人就一同倒斃了；他們被殺的時候、正是收割日的起頭，開始割大麥的時候。

大衛對他說：『你不要怕；我一定要因你父親約拿單的緣故以厚愛待你，將你祖父掃羅的一切田地都歸還你；你也可以經常在我席上喫飯。』米非波設又叩拜說：『僕人算甚麼，王竟垂顧像我這樣的一隻死狗啊！』
