押沙龍謂亞希多弗曰、我儕當若何而行、爾其謀之、

Absalom said to Ahithophel,“ Give us your advice. What should we do?”

Then said Absalom to Ahithophel, Give your counsel what we shall do.

Then Absalom said to Ahithophel,“ Give us your advice. What should we do?”

Then Absalom said to Ahithophel,“ Give your counsel what we shall do.”

No human wisdom or understanding or plan can stand against the Lord.

We must make a plan to keep them from growing even more. If we don’t, and if war breaks out, they will join our enemies and fight against us. Then they will escape from the country.”

As soon as they were freed, Peter and John returned to the other believers and told them what the leading priests and elders had said.When they heard the report, all the believers lifted their voices together in prayer to God:“ O Sovereign Lord, Creator of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them—you spoke long ago by the Holy Spirit through our ancestor David, your servant, saying,‘ Why were the nations so angry? Why did they waste their time with futile plans?The kings of the earth prepared for battle; the rulers gathered together against the Lord and against his Messiah.’“ In fact, this has happened here in this very city! For Herod Antipas, Pontius Pilate the governor, the Gentiles, and the people of Israel were all united against Jesus, your holy servant, whom you anointed.But everything they did was determined beforehand according to your will.

Call your councils of war, but they will be worthless. Develop your strategies, but they will not succeed. For God is with us!”

What sorrow awaits those who try to hide their plans from the Lord, who do their evil deeds in the dark!“ The Lord can’t see us,” they say.“ He doesn’t know what’s going on!”

Very early in the morning the leading priests and the elders of the people met again to lay plans for putting Jesus to death.

The wicked plot against the godly; they snarl at them in defiance.But the Lord just laughs, for he sees their day of judgment coming.

The kings of the earth prepare for battle; the rulers plot together against the Lord and against his anointed one.
