David then said to Abishai and all his officials,“ My son, my own flesh and blood, is trying to kill me. How much more, then, this Benjamite! Leave him alone; let him curse, for the Lord has told him to.

耶和華又對他說：「這人不會成為你的繼承人，你親生的兒子才是你的繼承人。」

耶和華說，『我要在你家中降下災禍，我要當著你的面把你的妻妾交給你的近臣，他必在光天化日之下與她們行淫。你在暗地裡做這惡事，我要讓這樣的惡事當著以色列人的面在光天化日之下臨到你。』」

「那時，人必把自己的弟兄置於死地，父親必把兒子置於死地，兒女必反叛父母，置他們於死地。

亞希多弗對押沙龍說：「讓我挑選一萬二千人，今夜啟程追趕大衛，趁他疲憊無力的時候襲擊他，使他驚慌失措，他的部下必逃命。我只把王一個人殺掉，把他的部下全都帶來歸順你。你尋索的人既然死了，跟隨他的人必然會歸順你。這樣，大家就平安無事了。」押沙龍和以色列的長老都贊成這個提議。

一天，亞述王在他的神明尼斯洛的廟裡祭拜時，他的兩個兒子亞得米勒和沙利色用刀殺了他，逃往亞拉臘。他的另一個兒子以撒哈頓繼位。

所以，我任由他們效法無用的律例，遵守無法使人活著的規條，

現在，你們不要因為把我賣到這裡而自怨自責。上帝差我先來這裡，是為了保住大家的性命。

一天，王對拿單先知說：「你看！我住在香柏木造的王宮中，但上帝的約櫃還留在帳篷裡。」

如果先知受迷惑說預言，那是我耶和華任他胡作非為，我必伸手懲治他，把他從我的以色列百姓中除滅。

耶和華就差遣一個天使進入亞述王營中，毀滅了所有的勇士、官長和將領。西拿基立只好滿臉羞愧地返回自己的國家。趁他去他神明的廟裡時，他的幾個親生兒子用刀殺了他。

耶和華說：「亞述王有禍了！他是我的憤怒之棍，他手中拿著我發烈怒的杖。我要差遣他去攻打一個不虔敬的國家，一個惹我發怒的民族，去搶奪、擄掠他們的財物，像踐踏街上的泥土一樣踐踏他們。可是他卻不這樣想，心裡也不這樣盤算，他只想毀滅許多國家。
