Then someone told David, saying,“ Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom.” And David said,“ O Lord, I pray, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness!”

Now David had been told,“ Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom.” So David prayed,“ Lord, turn Ahithophel’s counsel into foolishness.”

David had been told,“ Ahithophel, along with Absalom, is one of the people making secret plans against you.” So David prayed,“ Lord, make Ahithophel’s advice look foolish.”

And it was told David,“ Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom.” And David said,“ O Lord, please turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness.”

When someone told David that his adviser Ahithophel was now backing Absalom, David prayed,“ O Lord, let Ahithophel give Absalom foolish advice!”

Then someone reported to David,“ Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom.”“ LORD,” David pleaded,“ please turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness!”

Now someone informed David, saying,“ Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom.” And David said,“ Lord, please make the advice of Ahithophel foolish.”

And one told David, saying, Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom. And David said, O Jehovah, I pray thee, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness.

Then someone reported to David:“ Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom.”“ Lord,” David pleaded,“ please turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness!”

And[ one] told David, saying, Ahithophel[ is] among the conspirators with Absalom. And David said, O LORD, I pray thee, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness.

Now David had been told,“ Ahithophel has sided with the conspirators who are with Absalom. So David prayed,“ Make the advice of Ahithophel foolish, O LORD!”

Someone told David, saying,“ Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom.” David said,“ Yahweh, please turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness.”

Now when Ahithophel saw that his advice was not followed, he saddled a donkey, and arose and went home to his house, to his city. Then he put his household in order, and hanged himself, and died; and he was buried in his father’s tomb.

So Absalom and all the men of Israel said,“ The advice of Hushai the Archite is better than the advice of Ahithophel.” For the Lord had purposed to defeat the good advice of Ahithophel, to the intent that the Lord might bring disaster on Absalom.

This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic.

Even my own familiar friend in whom I trusted, Who ate my bread, Has lifted up his heel against me.

Now the advice of Ahithophel, which he gave in those days, was as if one had inquired at the oracle of God. So was all the advice of Ahithophel both with David and with Absalom.

Lord, how they have increased who trouble me! Many are they who rise up against me.

With Him are strength and prudence. The deceived and the deceiver are His.He leads counselors away plundered, And makes fools of the judges.He loosens the bonds of kings, And binds their waist with a belt.He leads princes away plundered, And overthrows the mighty.He deprives the trusted ones of speech, And takes away the discernment of the elders.

Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?

Surely the princes of Zoan are fools; Pharaoh’s wise counselors give foolish counsel. How do you say to Pharaoh,“ I am the son of the wise, The son of ancient kings?”Where are they? Where are your wise men? Let them tell you now, And let them know what the Lord of hosts has purposed against Egypt.The princes of Zoan have become fools; The princes of Noph are deceived; They have also deluded Egypt, Those who are the mainstay of its tribes.The Lord has mingled a perverse spirit in her midst; And they have caused Egypt to err in all her work, As a drunken man staggers in his vomit.Neither will there be any work for Egypt, Which the head or tail, Palm branch or bulrush, may do.In that day Egypt will be like women, and will be afraid and fear because of the waving of the hand of the Lord of hosts, which He waves over it.And the land of Judah will be a terror to Egypt; everyone who makes mention of it will be afraid in himself, because of the counsel of the Lord of hosts which He has determined against it.In that day five cities in the land of Egypt will speak the language of Canaan and swear by the Lord of hosts; one will be called the City of Destruction.In that day there will be an altar to the Lord in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar to the Lord at its border.And it will be for a sign and for a witness to the Lord of hosts in the land of Egypt; for they will cry to the Lord because of the oppressors, and He will send them a Savior and a Mighty One, and He will deliver them.Then the Lord will be known to Egypt, and the Egyptians will know the Lord in that day, and will make sacrifice and offering; yes, they will make a vow to the Lord and perform it.And the Lord will strike Egypt, He will strike and heal it; they will return to the Lord, and He will be entreated by them and heal them.In that day there will be a highway from Egypt to Assyria, and the Assyrian will come into Egypt and the Egyptian into Assyria, and the Egyptians will serve with the Assyrians.In that day Israel will be one of three with Egypt and Assyria— a blessing in the midst of the land,whom the Lord of hosts shall bless, saying,“ Blessed is Egypt My people, and Assyria the work of My hands, and Israel My inheritance.”

Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you seems to be wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise.For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written,“ He catches the wise in their own craftiness”;and again,“ The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are futile.”

Then Absalom sent for Ahithophel the Gilonite, David’s counselor, from his city— from Giloh— while he offered sacrifices. And the conspiracy grew strong, for the people with Absalom continually increased in number.

He frustrates the devices of the crafty, So that their hands cannot carry out their plans.

The spirit of Egypt will fail in its midst; I will destroy their counsel, And they will consult the idols and the charmers, The mediums and the sorcerers.

They have also surrounded me with words of hatred, And fought against me without a cause.

Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priestsand said,“ What are you willing to give me if I deliver Him to you?” And they counted out to him thirty pieces of silver.

“ I do not speak concerning all of you. I know whom I have chosen; but that the Scripture may be fulfilled,‘ He who eats bread with Me has lifted up his heel against Me.’

For it is not an enemy who reproaches me; Then I could bear it. Nor is it one who hates me who has exalted himself against me; Then I could hide from him.

“ How can you say,‘ We are wise, And the law of the Lord is with us’? Look, the false pen of the scribe certainly works falsehood.The wise men are ashamed, They are dismayed and taken. Behold, they have rejected the word of the Lord; So what wisdom do they have?

We took sweet counsel together, And walked to the house of God in the throng.Let death seize them; Let them go down alive into hell, For wickedness is in their dwellings and among them.
