So David went up by the Ascent of the Mount of Olives, and wept as he went up; and he had his head covered and went barefoot. And all the people who were with him covered their heads and went up, weeping as they went up.

But David continued up the Mount of Olives, weeping as he went; his head was covered and he was barefoot. All the people with him covered their heads too and were weeping as they went up.

Afterward Mordecai went back to the king’s gate. But Haman hurried to his house, mourning and with his head covered.

But the king covered his face, and the king cried out with a loud voice,“ O my son Absalom! O Absalom, my son, my son!”

at the same time the Lord spoke by Isaiah the son of Amoz, saying,“ Go, and remove the sackcloth from your body, and take your sandals off your feet.” And he did so, walking naked and barefoot.Then the Lord said,“ Just as My servant Isaiah has walked naked and barefoot three years for a sign and a wonder against Egypt and Ethiopia,so shall the king of Assyria lead away the Egyptians as prisoners and the Ethiopians as captives, young and old, naked and barefoot, with their buttocks uncovered, to the shame of Egypt.

Your turbans shall be on your heads and your sandals on your feet; you shall neither mourn nor weep, but you shall pine away in your iniquities and mourn with one another.

Their nobles have sent their lads for water; They went to the cisterns and found no water. They returned with their vessels empty; They were ashamed and confounded And covered their heads.Because the ground is parched, For there was no rain in the land, The plowmen were ashamed; They covered their heads.

Sigh in silence, make no mourning for the dead; bind your turban on your head, and put your sandals on your feet; do not cover your lips, and do not eat man’s bread of sorrow.”

Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.

And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; or if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.

Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a Sabbath day’s journey.

My tears have been my food day and night, While they continually say to me,“ Where is your God?”When I remember these things, I pour out my soul within me. For I used to go with the multitude; I went with them to the house of God, With the voice of joy and praise, With a multitude that kept a pilgrim feast.Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him For the help of His countenance.O my God, my soul is cast down within me; Therefore I will remember You from the land of the Jordan, And from the heights of Hermon, From the Hill Mizar.Deep calls unto deep at the noise of Your waterfalls; All Your waves and billows have gone over me.The Lord will command His lovingkindness in the daytime, And in the night His song shall be with me— A prayer to the God of my life.I will say to God my Rock,“ Why have You forgotten me? Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?”As with a breaking of my bones, My enemies reproach me, While they say to me all day long,“ Where is your God?”Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; For I shall yet praise Him, The help of my countenance and my God.Vindicate me, O God, And plead my cause against an ungodly nation; Oh, deliver me from the deceitful and unjust man!For You are the God of my strength; Why do You cast me off? Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?

And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, Which faces Jerusalem on the east. And the Mount of Olives shall be split in two, From east to west, Making a very large valley; Half of the mountain shall move toward the north And half of it toward the south.

Blessed are those who mourn, For they shall be comforted.

And it came to pass, when He drew near to Bethphage and Bethany, at the mountain called Olivet, that He sent two of His disciples,

Coming out, He went to the Mount of Olives, as He was accustomed, and His disciples also followed Him.

Then, as He was now drawing near the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works they had seen,

And in the daytime He was teaching in the temple, but at night He went out and stayed on the mountain called Olivet.

Now as He drew near, He saw the city and wept over it,

Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; For I shall yet praise Him, The help of my countenance and my God.

Those who sow in tears Shall reap in joy.He who continually goes forth weeping, Bearing seed for sowing, Shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, Bringing his sheaves with him.
