While Absalom was offering sacrifices, he also sent for Ahithophel the Gilonite, David’s counselor, to come from Giloh, his hometown. And so the conspiracy gained strength, and Absalom’s following kept on increasing.

或告大闢曰、亞希多弗從押沙龍、在叛黨之中。大闢曰、願耶和華以亞希多弗之謀、變為不智。

坷山、何倫、其祿共十一邑、與其鄉里。

我之友朋、予所恃兮、乃與我共食、舉踵踶予兮、

亞希多弗見所議不從則備驢反故邑、歸私第、以事囑其家人、自縊而死、葬於祖墓。

今有人焉、矜詡侮予、非予寇讎、非予仇隙、設或是之、猶可隱忍、杜門不出、予知斯人、乃予同儔、乃予密友、昔與心交、同詣上帝之室、

押沙龍及以色列族眾曰、亞其人戶篩之議、較亞希多弗尤善。蓋耶和華欲廢亞希多弗議、以敗押沙龍。

乃導至鎖腓野、比士迦山巔、爰築壇七、各獻牛羊、

我言非指爾眾、我所選者我知之、應經言、與我食者、舉踵踶我也、

使民禁食、在民間舉拿泊於高坐。

民俱不仁、詭譎殘賊兮、予望上帝、伸我冤而援手兮、上帝兮、爾素祐予、今何棄予如遺敵人暴虐、使我殷憂兮、

亞希多弗為王議士亞其人戶篩、為王之友。

若此者、言則識上帝、行則拒之、惟務違逆、自絕於善、可疾孰甚焉、

耶和華兮、苦我者多、攻我者眾、維彼有言、謂我不見拯於上帝、

上帝語惡人曰、爾何假我律例、藉予聖教、惡訓言而不守、棄我道其如遺兮、見賊則喜與同謀、遇姦則結為黨羽、口惟出惡言、舌惟施詭詐兮、謗爾昆弟、譭爾同氣兮、我弗譴爾、遂謂我與人無異、我必責爾、彰爾罪戾兮、

巴蘭謂巴勒曰、當於此築壇七、備牛七、羊七、

巴勒從其言、壇上各獻牛羊一。

曰、當使民禁食、在民間舉拿泊於高坐、

押沙龍謂亞希多弗曰、今日之事、如何處置、爾其斟酌之。對曰、爾父留妃以守宮闈、爾與偕寢、以色列族中知爾為父所憾、必協力助爾。有人張幕於宮巔、押沙龍遂御嬪妃、以色列族中無不知之。亞希多弗昔從大闢、今從押沙龍、所議之事、人視之若諮諏於上帝。

謹防鄰里、勿信友朋、對眷愛之妻、勿言機密之事、子欺父、女爭母、媳逆姑、則門內之人、等諸仇敵矣、

惡人之祭且不納、況以詭譎之心獻禮物乎。

曰、爾曹與所多馬之君長、蛾摩拉之民人無異、宜聽上帝耶和華之命。耶和華曰、恆獻禮物、與我何與、爾燔牡綿羊、焚肥畜之膋、我所厭惡、牛犢羔羊、牡山羊之血、我不悅懌。爾來覲我、穢我帷場、誰命之者。毋徒獻禮物、若馨香、月朔、安息日、聖會大日、俱我所厭棄、爾守節期、又復為惡、故我不悅。朔日節期、我心痛疾、我視若重負而厭之。爾曹殺人、雖舉手禱告弗輟、我必不俯聞、而遐棄爾。當盥手潔心、滌爾污俗、棄惡歸善、公義是行、受人虐遇者、必加援手、孤子嫠婦、必伸其冤。
