Then Absalom sent secret messengers throughout the tribes of Israel to say,“ As soon as you hear the sound of the trumpets, then say,‘ Absalom is king in Hebron.’”

Then Absalom sent messengers secretly to all the tribes of Israel. They said,“ Listen for the sound of trumpets. As soon as you hear them, say,‘ Absalom has become king in Hebron.’ ”

But Absalom sent secret messengers throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying,“ As soon as you hear the sound of the trumpet, then say,‘ Absalom is king at Hebron!’”

But while he was there, he sent secret messengers to all the tribes of Israel to stir up a rebellion against the king.“ As soon as you hear the ram’s horn,” his message read,“ you are to say,‘ Absalom has been crowned king in Hebron.’”

Then Absalom sent agents throughout the tribes of Israel with this message:“ When you hear the sound of the ram’s horn, you are to say,‘ Absalom has become king in Hebron!’”

But Absalom sent spies throughout the tribes of Israel, saying,“ As soon as you hear the sound of the trumpet, then you shall say,‘ Absalom is king in Hebron!’ ”

Then Absalom sent spies throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying,“ As soon as you hear the sound of the trumpet, then you shall say,‘ Absalom reigns in Hebron!’”

But Absalom sent spies throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying, As soon as ye hear the sound of the trumpet, then ye shall say, Absalom is king in Hebron.

Then Absalom sent messengers throughout the tribes of Israel with this message:“ When you hear the sound of the ram’s horn, you are to say,‘ Absalom has become king in Hebron!’”

But Absalom sent spies throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying,“ As soon as you hear the sound of the trumpet, then you shall say,‘ Absalom is king in Hebron!’”

這事以後，大衛求問耶和華：「我可以回到猶大的城邑嗎？」耶和華說：「可以。」大衛又問：「我應該回到哪一座城呢？」耶和華說：「希伯崙。」

以色列的長老都到希伯崙見大衛王，大衛與他們在耶和華面前立約，他們膏立大衛做以色列的王，這應驗了耶和華藉撒母耳所說的話。

大衛在希伯崙生的兒子有耶斯列人亞希暖所生的長子暗嫩，迦密人拿八的遺孀亞比該所生的次子基利押，基述王達買的女兒瑪迦所生的三子押沙龍，

大衛在希伯崙做王統治猶大支派七年半。

惡人得勢不會長久，不信上帝者的快樂轉瞬即逝？雖然他傲氣沖天，把頭挺到雲端，終必如自己的糞便永遠消亡，見過他的人都不知他在何處。他如夢消逝，蹤影杳然；如夜間的異象，飛逝而去。見過他的人不會再見到他，他將從家鄉消失無蹤。他的兒女要向窮人乞憐，他要親手償還不義之財。他的筋骨依然強健，卻要隨他葬入塵土。「他以邪惡為甘飴，將其藏在舌下，含在口中，慢慢品味。這食物在腹中變酸，變成了蛇的毒液。他要吐出所吞下的財富，上帝要倒空他腹中之物。他吸吮蛇的毒液，被蛇的舌頭害死。他無法享用流淌不盡的奶與蜜。他留不住勞碌的成果，無法享用所賺的財富。他欺壓、漠視窮人，強佔別人的房屋。他貪慾無度，不放過任何喜愛之物。他吞掉一切所有，他的福樂不能長久。他在富足時將陷入困境，各種災禍將接踵而至。上帝的怒火如雨降在他身上，填滿他的肚腹。他躲過了鐵刃，卻被銅箭射穿。利箭穿透他的後背，閃亮的箭頭刺破他的膽囊，恐怖籠罩著他。他的財寶消失在幽冥中，天火要吞噬他，焚毀他帳篷中殘留的一切。天要揭露他的罪惡，地要站出來指控他。在上帝發烈怒的日子，洪流將席捲他的家產。這便是上帝為惡人定下的結局，為他們預備的歸宿。」

以上這些人都是能征善戰的勇士，他們誠心誠意地到希伯崙擁立大衛做以色列王，其餘的以色列人也都萬眾一心地要立大衛做王。

他在希伯崙統治猶大七年半，在耶路撒冷統治以色列和猶大三十三年。

他們連忙將自己的衣服鋪在耶戶腳下的臺階上，吹響號角，高喊：「耶戶做王了！」

押沙龍吩咐僕人說：「你們要留意，當暗嫩喝得正高興的時候，我叫你們殺他，你們就要動手。不要畏縮，要剛強勇敢！因為這是我的命令。」

撒督祭司和拿單先知要在那裡膏立他為以色列王。你們要吹響號角，高喊，『所羅門王萬歲！』
