That good man lived among them day after day. He saw and heard the evil things they were doing. They were breaking God’s laws. And the godly spirit of Lot was deeply troubled.

蓋此義者居其中、且見且聞、以其不法之行、日傷公義之心、

蓋義者與彼同處、見其敗亂矩矱、無日不憂、

蓋此義人居於彼中、目見耳聞其非法之事、傷其義心、

蓋羅德以正直之身、處於群小之中、所見所聞、莫非橫行無道、中心惄焉如擣、無有寧日也。

( for that righteous man, living among them day after day, was tormented in his righteous soul by the lawless deeds he saw and heard)—

Yes, Lot was a righteous man who was tormented in his soul by the wickedness he saw and heard day after day.

I get very angry when I see people who aren’t faithful to you. They don’t obey your word.

The Lord said to him,“ Go all through Jerusalem. Look for those who are sad and sorry about all the things being done there. I hate those things. Put a mark on the foreheads of those people.”

Sometimes godly people give in to those who are evil. Then they become like a muddy spring of water or a polluted well.

But now we call proud people blessed. Things go well with those who do what is evil. And God doesn’t even punish those who test him.’ ”Those who had respect for the Lord talked with one another. And the Lord heard them. A list of people and what they did was written in a book in front of him. It included the names of those who respected the Lord and honored him.“ The day is coming when I will judge,” says the Lord who rules over all.“ On that day they will be my special treasure. I will spare them just as a father loves and spares his son who serves him.

My anger is wearing me out, because my enemies don’t pay any attention to your words.

When godly people win, everyone is very happy. But when sinners take charge, everyone hides.

Kill the old men and women, the young men and women, and the children. But do not touch anyone who has the mark. Start at my temple.” So they began with the old men who were in front of the temple.

We also know that the law isn’t made for godly people. It is made for those who break the law. It is for those who refuse to obey. It is for ungodly and sinful people. It is for those who aren’t holy and who don’t believe. It is for those who kill their fathers or mothers. It is for murderers.

So confess your sins to one another. Pray for one another so that you might be healed. The prayer of a godly person is powerful. Things happen because of it.
