蓋此義者居其中、且見且聞、以其不法之行、日傷公義之心、

蓋義者與彼同處、見其敗亂矩矱、無日不憂、

蓋此義人居於彼中、目見耳聞其非法之事、傷其義心、

蓋羅德以正直之身、處於群小之中、所見所聞、莫非橫行無道、中心惄焉如擣、無有寧日也。

( for that righteous man, living among them day after day, was tormented in his righteous soul by the lawless deeds he saw and heard)—

That good man lived among them day after day. He saw and heard the evil things they were doing. They were breaking God’s laws. And the godly spirit of Lot was deeply troubled.

Yes, Lot was a righteous man who was tormented in his soul by the wickedness he saw and heard day after day.

I beheld the transgressors, and was grieved; because they kept not thy word.

Rivers of waters run down mine eyes, because they keep not thy law.

And the LORD said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof.

A righteous man falling down before the wicked[ is as] a troubled fountain, and a corrupt spring.

And now we call the proud happy; yea, they that work wickedness are set up; yea,[ they that] tempt God are even delivered.Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard[ it], and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.

My zeal hath consumed me, because mine enemies have forgotten thy words.

When righteous[ men] do rejoice,[ there is] great glory: but when the wicked rise, a man is hidden.

Slay utterly old[ and] young, both maids, and little children, and women: but come not near any man upon whom[ is] the mark; and begin at my sanctuary. Then they began at the ancient men which[ were] before the house.

Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,

Confess[ your] faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
