無此者則盲、僅視所近、已忘舊罪之潔、

無此則盲於心、視不及遠、其受潔去舊罪、皆忘之矣、

人若無此、則如目矇、視不及遠、忘其舊日之罪已潔、

凡不具此等美德者、無異短視淺識之心盲、而自忘其舊罪已蒙滌除矣。

But whoever does not have them is nearsighted and blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their past sins.

But what if these things don’t describe someone at all? Then that person can’t see very well. In fact, they are blind. They have forgotten that their past sins have been washed away.

For whoever lacks these qualities is so nearsighted that he is blind, having forgotten that he was cleansed from his former sins.

But those who fail to develop in this way are shortsighted or blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their old sins.

The person who lacks these things is blind and shortsighted and has forgotten the cleansing from his past sins.

So you too, consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus.

The one who says that he is in the Light and yet hates his brother or sister is in the darkness until now.The one who loves his brother and sister remains in the Light, and there is nothing in him to cause stumbling.But the one who hates his brother or sister is in the darkness and walks in the darkness, and does not know where he is going because the darkness has blinded his eyes.

What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin so that grace may increase?Far from it! What use is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone says he has faith, but he has no works? Can that faith save him?If a brother or sister is without clothing and in need of daily food,and one of you says to them,“ Go in peace, be warmed and be filled,” yet you do not give them what is necessary for their body, what use is that?In the same way, faith also, if it has no works, is dead, being by itself.But someone may well say,“ You have faith and I have works; show me your faith without the works, and I will show you my faith by my works.”You believe that God is one. You do well; the demons also believe, and shudder.But are you willing to acknowledge, you foolish person, that faith without works is useless?Was our father Abraham not justified by works when he offered up his son Isaac on the altar?You see that faith was working with his works, and as a result of the works, faith was perfected;and the Scripture was fulfilled which says,“ And Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,” and he was called a friend of God.You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone.In the same way, was Rahab the prostitute not justified by works also when she received the messengers and sent them out by another way?For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead.

but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.

For, while speaking out arrogant words of no value they entice by fleshly desires, by indecent behavior, those who barely escape from the ones who live in error,promising them freedom while they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by what anyone is overcome, by this he is enslaved.For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world by the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and are overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first.
