且由是錫以寶貴豐厚之許、俾爾得脫在世因慾之敗壞、克與夫上帝之性、

許我尊榮景福、不為斯世惡俗所囿、於上帝之性情、是則是傚、

又以己之榮與德、許我以至大至寶之恩、使我儕我儕原文作爾曹賴此得脫斯世由慾而生之敗壞、得與天主同性、

賴斯大榮大德、吾人復受有無上無疆之恩諾、俾吾人脫世俗縱情恣慾之腐敗惡習、得躋於神化之境、而融於天主之性。

For they disciplined us for a short time as it seemed best to them, but he disciplines us for our good, that we may share his holiness.

And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.

and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator.

Therefore go out from their midst, and be separate from them, says the Lord, and touch no unclean thing; then I will welcome you,and I will be a father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to me, says the Lord Almighty.”Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and spirit, bringing holiness to completion in the fear of God.

For, speaking loud boasts of folly, they entice by sensual passions of the flesh those who are barely escaping from those who live in error.They promise them freedom, but they themselves are slaves of corruption. For whatever overcomes a person, to that he is enslaved.For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first.

For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.

But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God,who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

But as it is, Christ has obtained a ministry that is as much more excellent than the old as the covenant he mediates is better, since it is enacted on better promises.For if that first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no occasion to look for a second.For he finds fault with them when he says:“ Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will establish a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah,not like the covenant that I made with their fathers on the day when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt. For they did not continue in my covenant, and so I showed no concern for them, declares the Lord.For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my laws into their minds, and write them on their hearts, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.And they shall not teach, each one his neighbor and each one his brother, saying,‘ Know the Lord,’ for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest.For I will be merciful toward their iniquities, and I will remember their sins no more.”

Therefore he is the mediator of a new covenant, so that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance, since a death has occurred that redeems them from the transgressions committed under the first covenant.

Simeon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who have obtained a faith of equal standing with ours by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ:

so as to live for the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for human passions but for the will of God.For the time that is past suffices for doing what the Gentiles want to do, living in sensuality, passions, drunkenness, orgies, drinking parties, and lawless idolatry.

What causes quarrels and what causes fights among you? Is it not this, that your passions are at war within you?You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask.You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions.

For all the promises of God find their Yes in him. That is why it is through him that we utter our Amen to God for his glory.

Now the promises were made to Abraham and to his offspring. It does not say,“ And to offsprings,” referring to many, but referring to one,“ And to your offspring,” who is Christ.

They are Israelites, and to them belong the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the worship, and the promises.
