況且呢，你們又打發使者去請遠方的人來；有使者被差遣到他們那裏，他們就來了；為了他們、你就洗了澡，粉飾了眼睛，佩戴了妝飾，

女人呢、我卻願她們用雅素的打扮、以廉恥和克己去妝飾自己，不以編髮和黃金、或珍珠或很貴的服裝，乃是要用善行來妝飾：這才是自許為敬拜上帝的女人所適合作的。

當那日子、主必除掉她們的華美腳釧、髮網、月牙圈、耳墜、手鐲、蒙臉長披、華帽、腳鍊、珠帶、香盒、符囊、戒指、鼻環、吉服、斗篷、外披、提包、薄絲面罩、亞麻襯衣、華冠、蒙身帕子。必有臭爛代替香料；繩子代替腰帶；光禿代替整美髮；麻衣繫腰代替華服；丟臉代替美容。

你們的妝飾呢、不應當是外面的辮頭髮、戴金飾、或穿衣裳的妝飾，

亞哈將以利亞所行的一切事、和他怎樣用刀殺死眾神言人的事、都告訴了耶洗別。耶洗別就差遣使者去見以利亞說：『明天大約這時候、我若不使你的性命像那些人的性命一樣，願神明這樣懲罰我，並且加倍地懲罰。』

只可唉哼歎息，沉默無聲；不可為死人辦理喪事；你頭上要仍然包着華美裹頭巾，腳上要仍穿着鞋；你不要蒙着嘴脣，也不要喫居喪的飯。』
