耶穌回答他們說：『你們、給他們喫。』他們對他說：『我們要去買二百日工錢的餅，給他們喫麼？』耶穌問他們說：『你們有多少餅？去看看！』他們知道了，就說：『五個，還有兩條魚。』耶穌就吩咐他們大家、要一組一組地坐在青草地上。他們就一排一排地坐下，有一百的，有五十的。耶穌便拿這五個餅兩條魚，望着天祝頌，擘開了餅，連續地給門徒，去擺在眾人面前；他也把那兩條魚分給他們。眾人都喫，並且喫飽了；他們就把碎片兒撿起來，十二個籃子滿滿的！另外還有碎魚。喫餅的有五千人。
