One of the wives of the sons of the prophets cried out to Elisha,“ Your servant, my husband, has died. You know that your servant feared the LORD. Now the creditor is coming to take my two children as his slaves.”

The wife of a man from the company of the prophets cried out to Elisha,“ Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that he revered the Lord. But now his creditor is coming to take my two boys as his slaves.”

The wife of a man from the group of the prophets cried out to Elisha. She said,“ My husband is dead. You know how much respect he had for the Lord. But he owed money to someone. And now that person is coming to take my two boys away. They will become his slaves.”

Now the wife of one of the sons of the prophets cried to Elisha,“ Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that your servant feared the Lord, but the creditor has come to take my two children to be his slaves.”

One day the widow of a member of the group of prophets came to Elisha and cried out,“ My husband who served you is dead, and you know how he feared the Lord. But now a creditor has come, threatening to take my two sons as slaves.”

Now a woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets cried out to Elisha, saying,“ Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that your servant feared the Lord; and the creditor has come to take my two children to be his slaves.”

A certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets cried out to Elisha, saying,“ Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that your servant feared the Lord. And the creditor is coming to take my two sons to be his slaves.”

Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets unto Elisha, saying, Thy servant my husband is dead; and thou knowest that thy servant did fear Jehovah: and the creditor is come to take unto him my two children to be bondmen.

One of the wives of the sons of the prophets cried out to Elisha,“ Your servant, my husband, has died. You know that your servant feared the Lord. Now the creditor is coming to take my two children as his slaves.”

Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets unto Elisha, saying, Thy servant my husband is dead; and thou knowest that thy servant did fear the LORD: and the creditor is come to take unto him my two sons to be bondmen.

Now a wife of one of the prophets appealed to Elisha for help, saying,“ Your servant, my husband is dead. You know that your servant was a loyal follower of the LORD. Now the creditor is coming to take away my two boys to be his servants.”

Now a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets cried out to Elisha, saying,“ Your servant my husband is dead. You know that your servant feared Yahweh. Now the creditor has come to take for himself my two children to be slaves.”

Then the sons of the prophets who were at Bethel came out to Elisha and said,“ Do you know that the LORD will take your master away from you today?” He said,“ Yes, I know. Be quiet.”

Since he did not have the money to pay it back, his master commanded that he, his wife, his children, and everything he had be sold to pay the debt.

“ If your brother among you becomes destitute and sells himself to you, you must not force him to do slave labor.Let him stay with you as a hired worker or temporary resident; he may work for you until the Year of Jubilee.Then he and his children are to be released from you, and he may return to his clan and his ancestral property.

Some were saying,“ We, our sons, and our daughters are numerous. Let us get grain so that we can eat and live.”Others were saying,“ We are mortgaging our fields, vineyards, and homes to get grain during the famine.”Still others were saying,“ We have borrowed money to pay the king’s tax on our fields and vineyards.We and our children are just like our countrymen and their children, yet we are subjecting our sons and daughters to slavery. Some of our daughters are already enslaved, but we are powerless because our fields and vineyards belong to others.”

A voice came from the throne, saying, Praise our God, all his servants, and the ones who fear him, both small and great!

But from eternity to eternity the LORD’s faithful love is toward those who fear him, and his righteousness toward the grandchildren

When Elisha returned to Gilgal, there was a famine in the land. The sons of the prophets were sitting before him. He said to his attendant,“ Put on the large pot and make stew for the sons of the prophets.”

When the surrounding peoples bring merchandise or any kind of grain to sell on the Sabbath day, we will not buy from them on the Sabbath or a holy day. We will also leave the land uncultivated in the seventh year and will cancel every debt.

For judgment is without mercy to the one who has not shown mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.

‘ At the end of seven years, each of you must let his fellow Hebrew who sold himself to you go. He may serve you six years, but then you must let him go free from your service.’ But your ancestors did not obey me or pay any attention.

Ahab called for Obadiah, who was in charge of the palace. Obadiah was a man who greatly feared the LORD

When all has been heard, the conclusion of the matter is this: fear God and keep his commands, because this is for all humanity.

Although a sinner does evil a hundred times and prolongs his life, I also know that it will go well with God-fearing people, for they are reverent before him.

So also my heavenly Father will do to you unless every one of you forgives his brother or sister from your heart.”

he will bless those who fear the LORD— small and great alike.

The LORD values those who fear him, those who put their hope in his faithful love.

In addition, every man who was desperate, in debt, or discontented rallied around him, and he became their leader. About four hundred men were with him.

One of the sons of the prophets said to his fellow prophet by the word of the LORD,“ Strike me!” But the man refused to strike him.

Then I put my brother Hanani in charge of Jerusalem, along with Hananiah, commander of the fortress, because he was a faithful man who feared God more than most.

Lord, who will not fear and glorify your name? For you alone are holy. All the nations will come and worship before you because your righteous acts have been revealed.

Hallelujah! Happy is the person who fears the LORD, taking great delight in his commands.His descendants will be powerful in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed.

Then he said,“ Do not lay a hand on the boy or do anything to him. For now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your only son from me.”

Then the sons of the prophets who were in Jericho came up to Elisha and said,“ Do you know that the LORD will take your master away from you today?” He said,“ Yes, I know. Be quiet.”

he has the right of redemption after he has been sold. One of his brothers may redeem him.

For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his faithful love toward those who fear him.

But for you who fear my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings, and you will go out and playfully jump like calves from the stall.

But he wasn’t willing. Instead, he went and threw him into prison until he could pay what was owed.

At that time those who feared the LORD spoke to one another. The LORD took notice and listened. So a book of remembrance was written before him for those who feared the LORD and had high regard for his name.
