故此因你們的緣故、錫安必被耕種為田地，耶路撒冷必變為亂堆；這殿的山必成為森林之山丘。

上帝啊，外國人進入你的產業，污瀆了你的聖殿，使耶路撒冷成為荒堆；

迦勒底人燒了上帝的殿，拆毁了耶路撒冷的城牆，用火燒了城裏所有的宮堡，將城裏所有寶貴的器皿都毁壞了。

這殿必成為荒堆；凡從這裏經過的人都必驚訝嗤笑、說：「永恆主為甚麼辦這地和這殿到這樣呢？」

他把永恆主的殿和王的宮室都燒掉，也燒了耶路撒冷一切的房屋，連大幢的房屋都放火燒。

你的聖城已成了曠野，錫安已變為野地，耶路撒冷已成為荒涼之處了。我們那聖而榮美的殿、我們列祖頌讚你的所在、都給火燒了；我們所喜愛的盡都荒廢了。

看吧，永恆主發神諭說，我必發命令，叫他們回到這城來、攻擊它，將城攻取，放火焚燒；我必使猶大的城市荒涼，沒有人居住。』

迦勒底人必再來攻擊這城；將城攻取，放火焚燒。

就使你們擊敗了那攻擊你們的迦勒底人全軍，其中只剩下一些被刺重傷的人，他們也會各從自己的帳棚裏起來，放火焚燒這城的。」』

有人論到聖殿怎樣用美石和還願供物去妝飾，耶穌就說：『關於你們所觀看的這一切、日子必到，那時在這裏必沒有一塊石頭能留在一塊石頭上、而不被拆毁的。』

永恆主屏絕了自己的祭壇，斥棄了自己的聖所，將她宮堡的牆交於仇敵手中；他們在永恆主殿中喧嚷，像在制定節日一樣。

因此我必待這殿，就是這稱為我名下的，你們所倚靠的，我必待這地方，就是我所賜給你們、和你們列祖的，像我從前待示羅一樣。

你為甚麼冒永恆主的名傳神言、說這殿必像示羅那樣，這城必變為荒廢，沒有人居住呢？』眾民在永恆主殿裏就都聚集攏來擁到耶利米周圍。

並且設下假見證說：『這個人不停地講話、蹧踐這聖地和律法。我們曾聽見他說這個拿撒勒人耶穌要拆毁這聖地，要改變摩西所傳給我們的規矩。』

敵人伸開了手，奪取她的一切寶物；她眼看着外國人進入她的聖所，就是你曾吩咐不許進入你公會的。

王的宮殿和人民的房屋、迦勒底人都放火焚燒；耶路撒冷的城牆他們都拆毁了。
