And that’s not all. Josiah got rid of those who got messages from people who had died. He got rid of those who talked to the spirits of people who had died. He got rid of the statues of family gods and the statues of other gods. He got rid of everything else the Lord hates that was in Judah and Jerusalem. He did it to carry out what the law required. That law was written in the book that Hilkiah the priest had found in the Lord’ s temple.

Moreover, Josiah put away the mediums and the necromancers and the household gods and the idols and all the abominations that were seen in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, that he might establish the words of the law that were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest found in the house of the Lord.

Josiah also got rid of the mediums and psychics, the household gods, the idols, and every other kind of detestable practice, both in Jerusalem and throughout the land of Judah. He did this in obedience to the laws written in the scroll that Hilkiah the priest had found in the Lord’s Temple.

He did this in order to carry out the words of the law that were written in the book that the priest Hilkiah found in the LORD’s temple.

Moreover Josiah removed those who had familiar spirits, the wizards, and the teraphim, and the idols, and all the abominations that were seen in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, that he might confirm the words of the law which were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest found in Yahweh’s house.

“你們不可轉向那些交鬼的和行法術的；不可求問他們，玷污自己；我是耶和華你們的神。

從前去窺探那地的五個人上前，進入裡面，把雕像、以弗得、神像和鑄像都拿去了；祭司和帶著兵器的六百人都站在門口。當那五個人進了米迦的家，拿走雕像、以弗得、神像和鑄像的時候，祭司就問他們：“你們作甚麼呢？”

有人對你們說：“要求問那些交鬼的和行巫術的，就是那些喃喃細語的人。”一族之民不應當求問自己的神嗎？他們怎能為活人求問死人呢？他們應當求問神的訓誨和法度；他們若不照著這些準則說話，就見不到曙光。

他重新建造邱壇，就是他父親希西家所拆毀的；又為巴力建立祭壇，做亞舍拉，好像以色列王亞哈所做的，並且敬拜事奉天上的萬象。

在城外，有那些狗，那些行邪術的、淫亂的、殺人的、拜偶像的，以及所有喜愛說謊的和實行說謊的人。

唯有詳細察看那使人自由的全備的律法，並且時常遵守的人，他不是聽了就忘記，而是實行出來，就必因自己所作的蒙福。

米迦這人有一間神廟，又製造以弗得和家中的神像，並且立了他的一個兒子作祭司。

因為以色列人也要獨居多日；沒有君王，沒有領袖，沒有祭祀，沒有柱像，沒有以弗得，也沒有家中的神像。

他跟隨他父親所行的一切道路，服事他父親所服事的偶像，敬拜它們。

希勒家大祭司對書記沙番說：“我在耶和華的殿裡找到了一卷律法書。”他把書卷交給沙番；沙番就閱讀那書卷。書記沙番來見王，向王回報說：“你的臣僕已經把殿裡的銀子清點，交在耶和華殿裡管理工匠的人手中。”書記沙番又告訴王說：“希勒家大祭司交給我一卷書卷。”書記沙番就在王面前誦讀那書卷。王聽見律法書上的話的時候，就撕裂自己的衣服。王又吩咐希勒家祭司、沙番的兒子亞希甘、米該亞的兒子亞革博、書記沙番和王的臣僕及亞撒雅說：“你們去，為了我、為了人民、為了猶大全國，因著所發現的這書卷上的話求問耶和華，因為耶和華向我們所發的怒氣極大；這是因著我們的祖先沒有聽從這律法書上的話，沒有照著所有寫給我們的去行。”

埃及人的意志必消沉，我要破壞他們的計謀；他們必求問偶像、念咒的、交鬼的和行巫術的。

那時，撒母耳死了，以色列眾人都為他哀哭，把他埋葬在拉瑪他自己的城裡。掃羅曾經把交鬼的和行巫術的，都從國中除去了。非利士人聚集起來，來到書念安營；掃羅也聚集以色列眾人，在基利波安營。掃羅看見了非利士人的軍隊，就懼怕，他的心大大發抖。掃羅求問耶和華，耶和華卻沒有藉著夢，或烏陵，或先知回答他。於是掃羅對他的臣僕說：“你們要為我尋找一個能交鬼的女人，我好去求問她。”他的臣僕回答他說：“在隱．多珥有一個能交鬼的女人。”

他們把獻給耶和華殿的銀子拿出來的時候，希勒家祭司發現了耶和華藉摩西所傳的律法書。希勒家對書記沙番說：“我在耶和華的殿裡發現了律法書。”希勒家就把書交給沙番。沙番把書帶到王那裡，同時向王報告：“你交託你僕人的事，他們都辦妥了。他們把在耶和華殿裡的銀子倒出來，交給監督和作工的人。”書記沙番又告訴王，說：“希勒家祭司還交給我一卷書卷。”於是沙番在王面前誦讀那書。王一聽見律法書上的話，就撕裂自己的衣服，

“因為猶大王瑪拿西所作這些可憎惡的事，比在他以前的亞摩利人所行的惡更壞，並且以他的偶像使猶大人犯罪。

沒有一個人可以靠行律法，在神面前得稱為義，因為藉著律法，人對於罪才有充分的認識。

有一次，我們到祈禱的地方去的時候，一個被巫鬼附著的婢女迎面而來；她行占卜使主人們發了大財。她跟著保羅和我們，喊叫說：“這些人是至高神的僕人，向你們傳講得救的道路。”她一連多日這樣喊叫，保羅覺得厭煩，就轉身對那鬼說：“我奉耶穌基督的名，命令你從她身上出來！”那鬼就立刻出來了。
