祭司長希勒家告繕寫沙番曰、我在耶和華殿、得律例之書。希勒家遞書與沙番、沙番讀焉。

告之曰、每七載使人相釋之年、搆廬節期、以色列族眾俱至、立於爾上帝耶和華前、在其特簡為室之所、必誦此律法、使以色列眾聽之。當集眾民、男女幼稚、及旅於爾家者、俾其聽聞、寅畏爾上帝耶和華、守此律法。爾之子女、知識未開、聞此律法、及濟約但、以得斯土、亦畏爾上帝耶和華、畢生靡暨。

我見死人、自尊逮卑、立於位前、典籍與生命之書、盡展、死人被鞫、視其行為、依書所錄、

執耶和華律例之書、遍猶大諸邑、訓迪民人。

以此律法之書、置於爾上帝耶和華法匱之旁、以為證。

在彼尊卑同居、僕不虐於主、

是日一時四刻、立於其次、誦上帝耶和華律例之書、又一時四刻、任罪崇拜上帝。

然上帝佑我、故今日猶存、當尊卑前所證、無非先知及摩西預言之事、

使眾於門外、自老迄幼、目眯不明、索門不得。○

後又於書山賜宴居民、自尊逮卑越七日、集於御苑。

所有之婦女不殺一人、無論貴賤、悉擄以去。

既至迦特、耶和華降災於邑、幾至殲滅、使民無長幼生痔於下體。

斯時人誦摩西書、俾民僉聞、書云、摩押、亞捫二族、世不得入上帝會。

七月將屆、以色列族咸集於水門衢、惟一心、請選士以士喇、攜耶和華所命摩西傳以色列族律例之書。七月朔、眾男女、凡能聽而知之者、咸在水門衢、祭司以士喇抱書至、自朝至於日中、當眾前誦讀、僉聆斯義。

凡不崇以色列族之上帝耶和華、無論尊卑男女、死無赦。

敬恪之士、無論大小、俱蒙錫嘏兮、

法匱中惟有二碑、昔以色列族出埃及、至何烈山、耶和華與之立約、摩西置碑於匱。
