He went up to the temple of the Lord with the people of Judah, the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the priests and the prophets— all the people from the least to the greatest. He read in their hearing all the words of the Book of the Covenant, which had been found in the temple of the Lord.

The king had all the words of the Book of the Covenant read to them. The book had been found in the Lord’ s temple.

And the king went up to the house of the Lord, and with him all the men of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem and the priests and the prophets, all the people, both small and great. And he read in their hearing all the words of the Book of the Covenant that had been found in the house of the Lord.

大祭司希勒迦告诉书记沙番说：“我在耶和华的殿里找到了律法书。”希勒迦把书交给沙番看。

摩西吩咐他们说：“每逢免除债务的第七年的住棚节，所有以色列人到你们的上帝耶和华选定的地方朝见祂时，你们要当众大声宣读这律法。要招聚所有男女、孩童以及住在你们中间的外族人，让他们聆听这律法，学习敬畏你们的上帝耶和华，谨遵律法上的一切话。这样，他们那些还不知道这律法的孩子便有机会听到律法，在你们将要占领的约旦河对岸的土地上，学习终生敬畏你们的上帝耶和华。”

我又看见死去的人，不论尊卑老少，都站在宝座前面。案卷都展开了，另有一卷，就是生命册也打开了。死去的人都要凭案卷中有关他们行为的记录受审判。

他们带着耶和华的律法书，走遍犹大各城镇教导民众。

“把这律法书放在你们的上帝耶和华的约柜旁，作为指控你们的证据。

尊贵与卑贱的人都在那里，奴仆不再受主人的辖制。

他们站在自己的地方，宣读他们上帝耶和华的律法书，长达三个小时。他们又用了三个小时认罪，敬拜他们的上帝耶和华。

然而，我靠着上帝的帮助，到今天还能站在这里向所有尊卑老幼做见证。我讲的不外乎众先知和摩西说过要发生的事，

并让门外的人，不论老少都眼目昏花，摸来摸去也找不着罗得家的门。

之后，他又一连七天在御花园宴请书珊城里所有的居民，无论尊卑。

并掳走了城内的妇女及所有老少，没有杀任何人。

约柜抵达迦特的时候，耶和华攻击那城，使那里的男女老少都患了毒疮，全城惊恐不已。

那天，有人给民众宣读摩西律法书时，发现书上说亚扪人和摩押人永不可加入上帝的会众。

全体民众万众一心，聚集在水门前的广场上。他们请律法教师以斯拉带来耶和华借摩西颁给以色列人的律法书。七月一日，以斯拉祭司把律法书带到能听懂的男女会众面前，面向水门前的广场，从清早到正午一直向他们宣读律法书，人们都侧耳倾听。律法教师以斯拉站在为这聚会预备的木台上，站在他右边的是玛他提雅、示玛、亚奈雅、乌利亚、希勒迦和玛西雅；站在他左边的是毗大雅、米沙利、玛基雅、哈顺、哈拔大拿、撒迦利亚和米书兰。以斯拉站在高处，他在全体会众面前一打开书卷，他们都站了起来。以斯拉称颂伟大的上帝耶和华，全体民众都举手应声说：“阿们！阿们！”他们又面伏于地，俯伏敬拜耶和华。耶书亚、巴尼、示利比、雅悯、亚谷、沙比太、荷第雅、玛西雅、基利他、亚撒利雅、约撒拔、哈难、毗莱雅和利未人帮助民众明白律法，当时民众都站在自己的地方。他们宣读上帝的律法书，并解释清楚，使民众明白所宣读的。

凡不寻求以色列的上帝耶和华的，无论男女老幼，一律处死。

耶和华要赐福给一切敬畏祂的人，不分尊贵卑贱。

约柜里除了两块石版，没有别的东西。石版是以色列人离开埃及后，耶和华在何烈山跟他们立约时，摩西放进去的。
