又奏王曰、祭司希勒家授我一書、遂讀於王前、

又曰、祭司希勒家以書予我。遂取書陳王、誦於王前。

Then Shaphan the secretary informed the king,“ Hilkiah the priest has given me a book.” And Shaphan read from it in the presence of the king.

Shaphan continued,“ Hilkiah the priest has given me a book.” Shaphan read some of it to the king.

Then Shaphan the secretary told the king,“ Hilkiah the priest has given me a book.” And Shaphan read it before the king.

Shaphan also told the king,“ Hilkiah the priest has given me a scroll.” So Shaphan read it to the king.

Then the court secretary Shaphan told the king,“ The priest Hilkiah has given me a book,” and Shaphan read it in the presence of the king.

Moreover, Shaphan the scribe informed the king, saying,“ Hilkiah the priest has given me a book.” And Shaphan read it in the presence of the king.

Then Shaphan the scribe showed the king, saying,“ Hilkiah the priest has given me a book.” And Shaphan read it before the king.

And Shaphan the scribe told the king, saying, Hilkiah the priest hath delivered me a book. And Shaphan read it before the king.

Then Shaphan the court secretary told the king,“ Hilkiah the priest has given me a book,” and Shaphan read it in the presence of the king.

And Shaphan the scribe shewed the king, saying, Hilkiah the priest hath delivered me a book. And Shaphan read it before the king.

Then Shaphan the scribe told the king,“ Hilkiah the priest has given me a scroll.” Shaphan read it out loud before the king.

Shaphan the scribe told the king, saying,“ Hilkiah the priest has delivered a book to me.” Then Shaphan read it before the king.

王就打發猶底去拿這書卷來，他便從文士以利沙瑪的屋內取來，念給王和王左右侍立的眾首領聽。

你要對君王和太后說：你們當自卑，坐在下邊；因你們的頭巾，就是你們的華冠，已經脫落了。

耶和華如此說：「你下到猶大王的宮中，在那裏說這話，說：『坐大衛寶座的猶大王啊，你和你的臣僕，並進入城門的百姓，都當聽耶和華的話。

書記沙番又對王說：「祭司希勒家遞給我一卷書。」沙番就在王面前讀那書。

當日，人念摩西的律法書給百姓聽，遇見書上寫着說，亞捫人和摩押人永不可入神的會；

他們對他說：「請你坐下，念給我們聽。」巴錄就念給他們聽。

摩西將這律法寫出來，交給擡耶和華約櫃的祭司利未子孫和以色列的眾長老。摩西吩咐他們說：「每逢七年的末一年，就在豁免年的定期住棚節的時候，以色列眾人來到耶和華－你神所選擇的地方朝見他。那時，你要在以色列眾人面前將這律法念給他們聽。要招聚他們男、女、孩子，並城裏寄居的，使他們聽，使他們學習，好敬畏耶和華－你們的神，謹守、遵行這律法的一切話，也使他們未曾曉得這律法的兒女得以聽見，學習敬畏耶和華－你們的神，在你們過約旦河要得為業之地，存活的日子，常常這樣行。」

他們見律法上寫着，耶和華藉摩西吩咐以色列人要在七月節住棚，並要在各城和耶路撒冷宣傳報告說：「你們當上山，將橄欖樹、野橄欖樹、番石榴樹、棕樹，和各樣茂密樹的枝子取來，照着所寫的搭棚。」

他登了國位，就要將祭司利未人面前的這律法書，為自己抄錄一本，存在他那裏，要平生誦讀，好學習敬畏耶和華－他的神，謹守遵行這律法書上的一切言語和這些律例，免得他向弟兄心高氣傲，偏左偏右，離了這誡命。這樣，他和他的子孫便可在以色列中，在國位上年長日久。」

到了七月，以色列人住在自己的城裏。那時，他們如同一人聚集在水門前的寬闊處，請文士以斯拉將耶和華藉摩西傳給以色列人的律法書帶來。七月初一日，祭司以斯拉將律法書帶到聽了能明白的男女會眾面前。在水門前的寬闊處，從清早到晌午，在眾男女、一切聽了能明白的人面前讀這律法書。眾民側耳而聽。文士以斯拉站在為這事特備的木臺上。瑪他提雅、示瑪、亞奈雅、烏利亞、希勒家，和瑪西雅站在他的右邊；毗大雅、米沙利、瑪基雅、哈順、哈拔大拿、撒迦利亞，和米書蘭站在他的左邊。以斯拉站在眾民以上，在眾民眼前展開這書。他一展開，眾民就都站起來。以斯拉稱頌耶和華至大的神；眾民都舉手應聲說：「阿們！阿們！」就低頭，面伏於地，敬拜耶和華。耶書亞、巴尼、示利比、雅憫、亞谷、沙比太、荷第雅、瑪西雅、基利他、亞撒利雅、約撒拔、哈難、毗萊雅，和利未人使百姓明白律法；百姓都站在自己的地方。

所以你要去趁禁食的日子，在耶和華殿中將耶和華的話，就是你從我口中所寫在書卷上的話，念給百姓和一切從猶大城邑出來的人聽。

從頭一天直到末一天，以斯拉每日念神的律法書。眾人守節七日，第八日照例有嚴肅會。
