Then Shaphan the scribe showed the king, saying,“ Hilkiah the priest has given me a book.” And Shaphan read it before the king.

And Shaphan the scribe told the king, saying, Hilkiah the priest hath delivered me a book. And Shaphan read it before the king.

Then Shaphan the court secretary told the king,“ Hilkiah the priest has given me a book,” and Shaphan read it in the presence of the king.

And Shaphan the scribe shewed the king, saying, Hilkiah the priest hath delivered me a book. And Shaphan read it before the king.

Then Shaphan the scribe told the king,“ Hilkiah the priest has given me a scroll.” Shaphan read it out loud before the king.

Shaphan the scribe told the king, saying,“ Hilkiah the priest has delivered a book to me.” Then Shaphan read it before the king.

The king sent Jehudi to get the scroll, and he took it from the chamber of Elishama the scribe. Jehudi then read it in the hearing of the king and all the officials who were standing by the king.

Say to the king and the queen mother: Take a humble seat, for your glorious crowns have fallen from your heads.

This is what the LORD says:“ Go down to the palace of the king of Judah and announce this word there.You are to say,‘ Hear the word of the LORD, king of Judah, you who sit on the throne of David— you, your officers, and your people who enter these gates.

Then the court secretary Shaphan told the king,“ The priest Hilkiah gave me a book,” and Shaphan read from it in the presence of the king.

At that time the book of Moses was read publicly to the people. The command was found written in it that no Ammonite or Moabite should ever enter the assembly of God,

They said to him,“ Sit down and read it in our hearing.” So Baruch read it in their hearing.

Moses wrote down this law and gave it to the priests, the sons of Levi, who carried the ark of the LORD’s covenant, and to all the elders of Israel.Moses commanded them,“ At the end of every seven years, at the appointed time in the year of debt cancellation, during the Festival of Shelters,when all Israel assembles in the presence of the LORD your God at the place he chooses, you are to read this law aloud before all Israel.Gather the people— men, women, dependents, and the resident aliens within your city gates— so that they may listen and learn to fear the LORD your God and be careful to follow all the words of this law.Then their children who do not know the law will listen and learn to fear the LORD your God as long as you live in the land you are crossing the Jordan to possess.”

They found written in the law how the LORD had commanded through Moses that the Israelites should dwell in shelters during the festival of the seventh month.So they proclaimed and spread this news throughout their towns and in Jerusalem, saying,“ Go out to the hill country and bring back branches of olive, wild olive, myrtle, palm, and other leafy trees to make shelters, just as it is written.”

When he is seated on his royal throne, he is to write a copy of this instruction for himself on a scroll in the presence of the Levitical priests.It is to remain with him, and he is to read from it all the days of his life, so that he may learn to fear the LORD his God, to observe all the words of this instruction, and to do these statutes.Then his heart will not be exalted above his countrymen, he will not turn from this command to the right or the left, and he and his sons will continue reigning many years in Israel.

all the people gathered together at the square in front of the Water Gate. They asked the scribe Ezra to bring the book of the law of Moses that the LORD had given Israel.On the first day of the seventh month, the priest Ezra brought the law before the assembly of men, women, and all who could listen with understanding.While he was facing the square in front of the Water Gate, he read out of it from daybreak until noon before the men, the women, and those who could understand. All the people listened attentively to the book of the law.The scribe Ezra stood on a high wooden platform made for this purpose. Mattithiah, Shema, Anaiah, Uriah, Hilkiah, and Maaseiah stood beside him on his right; to his left were Pedaiah, Mishael, Malchijah, Hashum, Hash-baddanah, Zechariah, and Meshullam.Ezra opened the book in full view of all the people, since he was elevated above everyone. As he opened it, all the people stood up.Ezra blessed the LORD, the great God, and with their hands uplifted all the people said,“ Amen, Amen!” Then they knelt low and worshiped the LORD with their faces to the ground.Jeshua, Bani, Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodiah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, and Pelaiah, who were Levites, explained the law to the people as they stood in their places.

so you must go and read from the scroll— which you wrote at my dictation— the words of the LORD in the hearing of the people at the temple of the LORD on a day of fasting. Read his words in the hearing of all the Judeans who are coming from their cities.

Ezra read out of the book of the law of God every day, from the first day to the last. The Israelites celebrated the festival for seven days, and on the eighth day there was a solemn assembly, according to the ordinance.
