In those days Hezekiah became ill and was at the point of death. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz went to him and said,“ This is what the Lord says: Put your house in order, because you are going to die; you will not recover.”

In those days Hezekiah became very sick. He was about to die. Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, went to him. Isaiah told Hezekiah,“ The Lord says,‘ Put everything in order. Make out your will. You are going to die soon. You will not get well again.’ ”

In those days Hezekiah was sick and dying. Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came to him, and said to him,“ Yahweh says,‘ Set your house in order; for you will die, and not live.’”

在那些日子，希西加患病快要死了。亞摩斯的兒子先知以賽亞來到他那裡，對他說：「耶和華如此說：『你要妥善安排你的家事，因為你快要死了，不能存活了。』」希西加就轉臉對著牆，向耶和華禱告，說：「哦，耶和華啊，求你記念我在你面前怎樣以誠實和完全的心行事，又做你眼中看為善的事！」然後，希西加就痛哭起來。那時，耶和華的話語臨到以賽亞，說：「你去告訴希西加：『你先祖大衛的神耶和華如此說：我聽到了你的禱告，看見了你的眼淚。看哪！我必在你的壽數上增添十五年。我必解救你和這城脫離亞述王的手；我必保護這城。以下是我耶和華給你的徵兆來證明我耶和華必成就所說的這事：看哪！我要使亞哈斯的日晷上太陽照下的影子向後退十個刻度。』」於是日晷上太陽照下的影子，果然向後退了十個刻度。猶大王希西加患病痊癒後，寫了一首詩：「我曾說：我如日中天就要進入陰間之門；我餘剩的歲月竟被剝奪！我曾說：我必不得見耶和華，必不得見在活人之地的耶和華！我再也不會見到世上居民中的任何人。我的住處好像牧人的帳篷，被拔出、挪走；我捲起我的性命，像織布的捲布那樣；他把我從織布機上剪斷，一日之間，他使我喪命。我不斷呼救，直到清晨；他像獅子折斷我所有的骨頭，一日之間，他使我喪命。我像燕子呢喃，像白鶴啼叫，又像鴿子哀鳴。我的眼睛因仰望高處而衰弱；主啊！我受欺壓，求你作我的保障。我還能說什麼呢？他對我說過的，他已親自做了。我因靈魂的苦痛，要謹慎地度過我所有的年日。主啊！人存活靠著這些；我靈魂的生命也在所有這些之中。求你使我復原，使我存活。看哪！我受盡苦痛，是對我有益的；是你在愛中保全我的靈魂脫離滅亡之坑，是你把我的一切罪都拋在你的背後。陰間不會稱頌你，死亡不會讚美你，下陰坑的人也不會盼望你的信實；唯獨活人——活著的人才會稱頌你，像我今天這樣；作父親的才會使兒女認識你的信實。耶和華必拯救我；我們一生一世都要在耶和華的殿中，彈奏絲弦的樂器。」——而此前，以賽亞曾說：「拿一塊無花果餅來，敷在瘡上，王就必痊癒！」希西加卻問：「有什麼徵兆來證明我會上耶和華的殿呢？」

亞希多弗見自己的建議沒有被採納，就給驢子備上鞍，起身回本鄉本家去。他安排好家裡的事，然後上吊死了。他被葬在他父親的墳墓裡。

事實上，他雖然患了病幾乎死去，可是神憐憫了他；不僅憐憫他，也憐憫了我，免得我憂上加憂。

約拿開始進入那城，走了一天的路程，宣告說：「再過四十天，尼尼微就要覆滅了。」尼尼微人就相信神，並宣告禁食，無論尊貴的或卑微的，都披上麻布。這話語傳到尼尼微王的時候，他從自己的寶座上起來，從身上脫下王袍，披上麻布，坐在灰燼中。然後他頒布諭令，說：「在尼尼微，王和大臣有令：『無論人或牲畜，牛或羊，都不可嘗什麼，不可吃什麼，也不可喝水。人和牲畜都當披上麻布；各人都當迫切地向神呼求，從自己邪惡的道路上、自己手裡的殘暴中轉回。或許神會轉回、施憐憫，從他猛烈的怒氣中轉回，使我們不致滅亡。』」神看到他們所行的——從邪惡的道路上轉回了，神就施憐憫，沒有降下原先所說的要降在他們身上的災禍。

因為他為了基督的工作，幾乎至死，冒了生命的危險，為要彌補你們服事我的缺乏。

有一個叫拉撒路的病人，住在伯大尼，就是瑪麗亞和她的姐姐瑪妲住的村子。這瑪麗亞就是用香液膏抹主，又用自己的頭髮擦他腳的那一個。是她的弟弟拉撒路患了病。姐妹倆派人到耶穌那裡說：「主啊，你看，你所愛的人患了病。」耶穌聽了就說：「這病不至於死，而是為了神的榮耀，好使神的兒子由此得榮耀。」耶穌一向愛瑪妲和她的妹妹，以及拉撒路。
