When they had crossed, Elijah said to Elisha,“ Tell me, what can I do for you before I am taken from you?”“ Let me inherit a double portion of your spirit,” Elisha replied.

After they had gone across, Elijah said to Elisha,“ Tell me. What can I do for you before I’m taken away from you?”“ Please give me a double share of your spirit,” Elisha replied.

When they had crossed, Elijah said to Elisha,“ Ask what I shall do for you, before I am taken from you.” And Elisha said,“ Please let there be a double portion of your spirit on me.”

When they came to the other side, Elijah said to Elisha,“ Tell me what I can do for you before I am taken away.” And Elisha replied,“ Please let me inherit a double share of your spirit and become your successor.”

When they had crossed over, Elijah said to Elisha,“ Ask me what I should do for you before I am taken from you.” And Elisha said,“ Please let a double portion of your spirit be upon me.”

And so it was, when they had crossed over, that Elijah said to Elisha,“ Ask! What may I do for you, before I am taken away from you?” Elisha said,“ Please let a double portion of your spirit be upon me.”

And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I am taken from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me.

When they had gone over, Elijah said to Elisha,“ Ask what I shall do for you, before I am taken from you.” Elisha said,“ Please let a double portion of your spirit be on me.”

He must acknowledge the firstborn, the son of the neglected wife, by giving him two shares of his estate, for he is the firstfruits of his virility; he has the rights of the firstborn.

Then I will come down and speak with you there. I will take some of the Spirit who is on you and put the Spirit on them. They will help you bear the burden of the people, so that you do not have to bear it by yourself.

The elders who are good leaders are to be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who work hard at preaching and teaching.

Then the LORD descended in the cloud and spoke to him. He took some of the Spirit who was on Moses and placed the Spirit on the seventy elders. As the Spirit rested on them, they prophesied, but they never did it again.

Joshua son of Nun was filled with the spirit of wisdom because Moses had laid his hands on him. So the Israelites obeyed him and did as the LORD had commanded Moses.

God, give your justice to the king and your righteousness to the king’s son.

Nevertheless, I am telling you the truth. It is for your benefit that I go away, because if I don’t go away the Counselor will not come to you. If I go, I will send him to you.

Then Peter and John laid their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.

So give your servant a receptive heart to judge your people and to discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of yours?”

LORD God, let your promise to my father David now come true. For you have made me king over a people as numerous as the dust of the earth.Now grant me wisdom and knowledge so that I may lead these people, for who can judge this great people of yours?”

“ And now I know that none of you, among whom I went about preaching the kingdom, will ever see me again.Therefore I declare to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all of you,because I did not avoid declaring to you the whole plan of God.Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has appointed you as overseers, to shepherd the church of God, which he purchased with his own blood.I know that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock.Men will rise up even from your own number and distort the truth to lure the disciples into following them.Therefore be on the alert, remembering that night and day for three years I never stopped warning each one of you with tears.“ And now I commit you to God and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up and to give you an inheritance among all who are sanctified.I have not coveted anyone’s silver or gold or clothing.You yourselves know that I worked with my own hands to support myself and those who are with me.In every way I’ve shown you that it is necessary to help the weak by laboring like this and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, because he said,‘ It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”After he said this, he knelt down and prayed with all of them.

LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, our ancestors, keep this desire forever in the thoughts of the hearts of your people, and confirm their hearts toward you.Give my son Solomon an undivided heart to keep and to carry out all your commands, your decrees, and your statutes, and to build the building for which I have made provision.

Return to a stronghold, you prisoners who have hope; today I declare that I will restore double to you.

But desire the greater gifts. And I will show you an even better way.

“ I pray for them. I am not praying for the world but for those you have given me, because they are yours.Everything I have is yours, and everything you have is mine, and I am glorified in them.I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by your name that you have given me, so that they may be one as we are one.While I was with them, I was protecting them by your name that you have given me. I guarded them and not one of them is lost, except the son of destruction, so that the Scripture may be fulfilled.Now I am coming to you, and I speak these things in the world so that they may have my joy completed in them.

On that day the LORD will defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that on that day the one who is weakest among them will be like David on that day, and the house of David will be like God, like the angel of the LORD, before them.

When Elisha became sick with the illness from which he died, King Jehoash of Israel went down and wept over him and said,“ My father, my father, the chariots and horsemen of Israel!”Elisha responded,“ Get a bow and arrows.” So he got a bow and arrows.Then Elisha said to the king of Israel,“ Grasp the bow.” So the king grasped it, and Elisha put his hands on the king’s hands.Elisha said,“ Open the east window.” So he opened it. Elisha said,“ Shoot!” So he shot. Then Elisha said,“ The LORD’s arrow of victory, yes, the arrow of victory over Aram. You are to strike down the Arameans in Aphek until you have put an end to them.”Then Elisha said,“ Take the arrows!” So he took them. Then Elisha said to the king of Israel,“ Strike the ground!” So he struck the ground three times and stopped.The man of God was angry with him and said,“ You should have struck the ground five or six times. Then you would have struck down Aram until you had put an end to them, but now you will strike down Aram only three times.”

Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures.He also said to them,“ This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead the third day,and repentance for forgiveness of sins will be proclaimed in his name to all the nations, beginning at Jerusalem.You are witnesses of these things.And look, I am sending you what my Father promised. As for you, stay in the city until you are empowered from on high.”Then he led them out to the vicinity of Bethany, and lifting up his hands he blessed them.And while he was blessing them, he left them and was carried up into heaven.

The prayers of David son of Jesse are concluded.

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

“ May the LORD, the God who gives breath to all, appoint a man over the communitywho will go out before them and come back in before them, and who will bring them out and bring them in, so that the LORD’s community won’t be like sheep without a shepherd.”The LORD replied to Moses,“ Take Joshua son of Nun, a man who has the Spirit in him, and lay your hands on him.Have him stand before the priest Eleazar and the whole community, and commission him in their sight.Confer some of your authority on him so that the entire Israelite community will obey him.He will stand before the priest Eleazar who will consult the LORD for him with the decision of the Urim. He and all the Israelites with him, even the entire community, will go out and come back in at his command.”Moses did as the LORD commanded him. He took Joshua, had him stand before the priest Eleazar and the entire community,laid his hands on him, and commissioned him, as the LORD had spoken through Moses.

“ Truly I tell you, the one who believes in me will also do the works that I do. And he will do even greater works than these, because I am going to the Father.Whatever you ask in my name, I will do it so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.
