Surely you have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all the countries, destroying them completely. And will you be delivered?

I’m sure you have heard about what the kings of Assyria have done to all the other countries. They have destroyed them completely. So do you think you will be saved?

Behold, you have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands, devoting them to destruction. And shall you be delivered?

You know perfectly well what the kings of Assyria have done wherever they have gone. They have completely destroyed everyone who stood in their way! Why should you be any different?

Look, you have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all the countries: They completely destroyed them. Will you be rescued?

Look! You have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands by utterly destroying them; and shall you be delivered?

Behold, thou hast heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands, by destroying them utterly: and shalt thou be delivered?

Look, you have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all the countries: they completely destroyed them. Will you be rescued?

Certainly you have heard how the kings of Assyria have annihilated all lands. Do you really think you will be rescued?

It is true, Lord; the kings of Assyria have laid waste the nations and their lands,and have hurled their gods into the fire; for they were not gods, but only the work of human hands, wood and stone. So they have destroyed them.

For it says,“ Are not my officers all kings?Is not Calno like Carchemish, Or Hamath like Arpad, Or Samaria like Damascus?As my hand has reached to the kingdoms of the idols, Whose carved images were greater than those of Jerusalem and Samaria,Shall I not do the same to Jerusalem and her images Just as I have done to Samaria and her idols?”

Do you not know what I and my fathers have done to all the peoples of the lands? Were the gods of the nations of those lands at all able to save their land from my hand?Who was there among all the gods of those nations which my fathers utterly destroyed who could save his people from my hand, that your God would be able to save you from my hand?

Then the king of Assyria invaded the entire land, and went up to Samaria and besieged it for three years.In the ninth year of Hoshea, the king of Assyria captured Samaria and led the people of Israel into exile to Assyria, and settled them in Halah and Habor, on the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes.Now this came about because the sons of Israel had sinned against the Lord their God, who had brought them up from the land of Egypt, from under the hand of Pharaoh, king of Egypt; and they had feared other gods.They also followed the customs of the nations whom the Lord had driven out from the sons of Israel, and in the customs of the kings of Israel which they had introduced.And the sons of Israel did things secretly against the Lord their God which were not right. Moreover, they built for themselves high places in all their towns, from watchtower to fortified city.And they set up for themselves memorial stones and Asherim on every high hill and under every green tree,and there they burned incense on all the high places as the nations did that the Lord had taken into exile before them; and they did evil things, provoking the Lord.
