亞哈自卑於我前、爾見之乎、緣此、於彼尚存之日、我不降災、迨其子時、乃降災於其家、

末底改既知此事、自裂其衣、衣麻蒙灰、出至邑中、大聲痛哭、及御門而止、因衣麻者不可入也、詔至各州、猶大人悲甚、禁食、哭泣、哀號、衣麻臥於灰中者眾、以斯帖之侍女內豎進而告之、后則憂甚、遺末底改衣、使去其麻、末底改不受、

王聞婦言則裂其衣、由城垣而過、民見其內衣麻衣、

在此之禱、我必啟目顧之、側耳聽之、蓋我已簡斯室、區別為聖、使永為我寄名之所、我目我心、必恆在此、

約伯遂起、裂衣薙首、伏地而拜、曰、我裸而出母胎、亦裸而歸、耶和華與之、耶和華取之、耶和華之名、宜頌美也、

是日有一便雅憫人、自裂其衣、以塵蒙首、由陳奔於示羅、

我聞此事、裂衣袍、拔鬚髮、愕然而坐、

若我、於彼病時、衣麻禁食、刻苦己心、然我所祈、返於我衷兮、

禍哉哥拉汛乎、禍哉伯賽大乎、蓋在爾中所行之異能、若行於推羅西頓則早衣麻蒙灰而改悔矣、

以色列王閱書、裂其衣曰、我豈為上帝、能死生人乎、彼乃遣人詣我、使愈其癩、爾其思之、可知彼乃搆釁於我、

王及臣僕雖聞斯言、不畏懼、不裂衣、

人畜俱披麻、眾皆切求上帝、各轉離其惡途、去其手之強暴、

大祭司自裂其衣、曰、僭妄哉若人、何用他證、爾已聞其僭妄矣、
