雖畏耶和華、又事偶像、其祖行是、子孫濟惡、迄於今日、亦若是焉。

斯諸族又敬畏主、又事其偶像、子子孫孫咸如斯、其祖所行、彼眾亦行之、至於今日、

Even while these people were worshiping the Lord, they were serving their idols. To this day their children and grandchildren continue to do as their ancestors did.

They worshiped the Lord. But at the same time, they served the statues of their gods. And to this day their children and grandchildren continue to do what their people before them did.

So these nations feared the Lord and also served their carved images. Their children did likewise, and their children’s children— as their fathers did, so they do to this day.

So while these new residents worshiped the Lord, they also worshiped their idols. And to this day their descendants do the same.

They feared the LORD but also served their idols. Still today, their children and grandchildren continue doing as their ancestors did.

So while these nations feared the Lord, they also served their idols; their children likewise and their grandchildren, just as their fathers did, they do to this day.

我必剷除那些在屋頂祭拜天上萬象的人，剷除敬拜我、憑我起誓又憑米勒公起誓的人，

「一個人不能服侍兩位主人，因為他不是恨這位、愛那位，就是重這位、輕那位。你們不能又事奉上帝，又崇拜金錢。

以利亞走到眾人面前說：「你們三心二意要到什麼時候呢？如果耶和華是上帝，你們當跟從祂；如果巴力是上帝，你們就跟從他吧！」他們都默不作聲。

他們也敬拜耶和華，卻委任各種人做祭司，在高崗上的神廟為他們獻祭。他們就這樣既敬拜耶和華，又各按各的風俗供奉自己的神明。

「所以，你們要敬畏耶和華，誠心誠意地事奉祂，摒棄你們祖先在幼發拉底河那邊和在埃及所拜的神明，專心事奉耶和華。如果你們不願意事奉耶和華，今天就選擇你們的神明吧，或大河那邊你們祖先事奉的神明，或你們這裡亞摩利人的神明。至於我和我全家，我們必事奉耶和華。」民眾答道：「我們決不背棄耶和華去事奉別的神明，因為我們的上帝耶和華曾領我們和我們的祖先脫離埃及人的奴役，在我們眼前行大神蹟，一路保護我們安然經過列邦。耶和華把這地方的亞摩利人等外族人從我們面前趕走了，我們必事奉祂，因為祂是我們的上帝。」約書亞說：「你們不能事奉耶和華，祂是一位聖潔的上帝，祂痛恨不貞，必不赦免你們的過犯和罪惡。如果你們背棄耶和華，去拜外族的神明，儘管祂曾經恩待你們，也必降禍給你們，毀滅你們。」

『我知道你的行為，你不冷也不熱。我情願你或冷或熱，可是現在你卻像溫水一樣不冷不熱，我必將你從我口中吐出去！

猶大和便雅憫的敵人聽說流亡者回來要為以色列的上帝耶和華建殿，就去見所羅巴伯和以色列的族長，對他們說：「請讓我們與你們一同建造，因為我們像你們一樣也尋求你們的上帝。自從亞述王以撒哈頓帶我們到這裡以後，我們就一直獻祭給上帝。」所羅巴伯、耶書亞和以色列其餘的族長回答說：「你們不能參與建殿。遵照波斯王塞魯士的吩咐，我們要自己為以色列的上帝耶和華建殿。」
