The king did not listen to the people because the turn of events came from God, in order that the LORD might carry out his word that he had spoken through Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam son of Nebat.When all Israel saw that the king had not listened to them, the people answered the king: What portion do we have in David? Jeroboam appointed his own priests for the high places, the goat-demons, and the golden calves he had made.

LORD, for the sake of your name, forgive my iniquity, for it is immense.

Israel is still in rebellion against the house of David today.When all Israel heard that Jeroboam had come back, they summoned him to the assembly and made him king over all Israel. No one followed the house of David except the tribe of Judah alone.

“ You would have no authority over me at all,” Jesus answered him,“ if it hadn’t been given you from above. This is why the one who handed me over to you has the greater sin.”

He strengthened their fortifications and put leaders in them with supplies of food, oil, and wine.

Then Abimelech called Abraham in and said to him,“ What have you done to us? How did I sin against you that you have brought such enormous guilt on me and on my kingdom? You have done things to me that should never be done.”

Then Moses asked Aaron,“ What did these people do to you that you have led them into such a grave sin?”

No, my sons, the news I hear the LORD’s people spreading is not good.
