When he tore Israel away from the house of David, they made Jeroboam son of Nebat their king. Jeroboam enticed Israel away from following the Lord and caused them to commit a great sin.

The Lord took control of Israel away from the royal house of David. The Israelites made Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, their king. Jeroboam tried to get Israel to stop following the Lord. He caused them to commit a terrible sin.

王不聽從人民的要求，這事原是出於神，為要實現耶和華藉著示羅人亞希雅對尼八的兒子耶羅波安所說的話。以色列人見王不聽他們的要求，就對王說：“我們和大衛有甚麼關係呢？我們和耶西的兒子並不相干。以色列人哪，各回各家去吧，大衛啊，現在只顧你自己的家吧。”於是全體以色列人都回自己的家去了。只有那些住在猶大眾城鎮的以色列人，羅波安仍然作他們的王。羅波安王差派了監管苦工的哈多蘭（“哈多蘭”是“亞多尼蘭”或“亞多蘭”的另一種寫法﹔參王上4:6，12:18）到以色列人那裡去，以色列人就用石頭把他打死了。羅波安王急忙上車，逃回耶路撒冷去了。這樣，以色列人背叛了大衛家，直到今日。

耶羅波安為邱壇、公山羊神，以及他鑄造的牛犢，自己設立了祭司。

耶和華啊！因你名的緣故，求你赦免我的罪孽，因為我的罪孽重大。

我把國從大衛家奪過來，賞賜給你；你卻不像我僕人大衛那樣謹守我的誡命，一心跟從我，行我看為正的事。

“耶和華必使災難的日子臨到你和你的人民，以及你的父家，自從以法蓮脫離猶大以來，未曾有過這樣的日子，就是亞述王的入侵。”

這樣，那兩個青年人在耶和華面前所犯的罪很大，因為他們藐視獻給耶和華的祭物。

這樣，以色列人背叛了大衛家，直到今日。以色列眾人聽說耶羅波安回來了，就派人去請他到會眾面前，立他作以色列的王；除了猶大支派以外，沒有跟隨大衛家的。

耶穌說：“如果不是從天上給你權柄，你就無權辦我；因此，把我交給你的那人，罪更重了。”

他又鞏固這些設防城，在城裡設軍長，貯備糧食、油和酒。

亞比米勒把亞伯拉罕召了來，對他說：“你為甚麼向我們這樣行呢？我在甚麼事上得罪了你，以致你給我和我的國帶來這個大罪呢？你對我作了不應該作的事。”

摩西對亞倫說：“這人民向你作了甚麼，你竟使他們陷在大罪裡呢？”

我兒啊，不要這樣，因為我聽見的消息很不好，你們使耶和華的子民違背律法。
