They forsook all the commands of the Lord their God and made for themselves two idols cast in the shape of calves, and an Asherah pole. They bowed down to all the starry hosts, and they worshiped Baal.

They turned away from all the commands of the Lord their God. They made two statues of gods for themselves. The statues were shaped like calves. They made a pole used to worship the female god named Asherah. They bowed down to all the stars. And they worshiped the god named Baal.

And they abandoned all the commandments of the Lord their God, and made for themselves metal images of two calves; and they made an Asherah and worshiped all the host of heaven and served Baal.

They rejected all the commands of the Lord their God and made two calves from metal. They set up an Asherah pole and worshiped Baal and all the forces of heaven.

亚哈犯了尼八的儿子耶罗波安所犯的罪，还以为是小事。他又娶了西顿王谒巴力的女儿耶洗别作妻子，去服事巴力，敬拜巴力。

耶和华必击打以色列人，他们就摆动，像芦苇在水中摆动一样。他要把以色列人从他赐给他们列祖的这块美地上拔出来，把他们分散在幼发拉底河那边，因为他们做了亚舍拉，惹耶和华发怒。

他们又为自己在各高冈上，各茂盛树下建造邱坛、神柱和亚舍拉。

又恐怕你抬头望天，看见日、月、星，就是天上万象的时候，就被勾引，去敬拜和事奉它们，那原是耶和华你们的神分给天下万民享用的。

他重新建造邱坛，就是他父亲希西家所拆毁的；又为巴力建立祭坛，做亚舍拉，好像以色列王亚哈所做的，并且敬拜事奉天上的万象。

亚哈又做了亚舍拉，亚哈所行的，惹耶和华以色列的神发怒，比他以前所有的以色列王更厉害。

他事奉巴力，敬拜巴力，照着他父亲所行的一切惹耶和华以色列的神发怒。

并且废除他祖母玛迦太后的后位，因为她为亚舍拉做了可怕的偶像。亚撒把她那可怕的偶像砍下来，在汲沦溪旁烧掉。

然后当地所有的人民都来到巴力庙，把它拆毁，把它的坛和像完全打碎，又在祭坛前把巴力的祭司玛坦杀了。耶何耶大祭司又设立官员管理耶和华的殿。

制造偶像的人，尽都是虚空的，他们所喜爱的，都没有益处。他们的见证人，一无所见，一无所知，以致他们蒙羞。谁制造神像，或铸造偶像，不想得到益处呢？

亚伦从他们手中接过来，用雕刻的工具雕刻，铸造了一个牛像；他们就说：“以色列啊，这就是你们的神，就是把你从埃及地领出来的那位。”

抛散在太阳、月亮和天上的万象之下，就是他们从前所爱慕、服事、跟随、求问、敬拜的。这些骸骨必不再被收殓埋葬，必在地面上成为粪肥。

有火在他们的党羽中燃烧起来，烈焰焚毁了恶人。他们在何烈山做了牛犊，敬拜铸成的偶像。这样，他们用吃草的牛的像，代替了他们的荣耀的神。

又在各高山顶上和每一棵青翠的树下竖立神柱和亚舍拉。

他们很快就偏离了我吩咐他们的道路，为自己铸造了一个牛像，向它跪拜，向它献祭，说：‘以色列啊，这就是你的神，就是把你从埃及地领出来的那位。’”

耶户集合众民，对他们说：“从前亚哈信奉巴力还算是少，耶户要信奉更多。现在，所有的巴力先知、所有信奉他的和他所有的祭司都要给我召来，不要走漏一人；因为我要向巴力献一个极大的祭，缺席的必不得活。”耶户用诡计这样行，是要除灭所有信奉巴力的人。耶户又说：“要为巴力召开一个严肃会。”于是众人宣告召开大会。耶户派人走遍以色列各地，所有信奉巴力的人都来了，没有一个不来的。他们都进了巴力庙，以致巴力庙从这边到那边都塞满了人。耶户对掌管衣橱的说：“把礼服拿出来，给所有拜巴力的人穿。”他就把礼服拿出来给他们穿上。耶户和利甲的儿子约拿达来到巴力的庙中。他对信奉巴力的人说：“搜查看看，这里不要有信奉耶和华的人和你们同在一起，只可以有信奉巴力的人。”他们进去献祭和献燔祭。耶户布置了八十个人在外面，说：“如果我带来交在你们手中的人，有一个从他们中间逃脱了，你们就要以命抵命。”耶户献完了燔祭，就对卫兵和军长说：“你们进去，杀死他们，一个也不让他们出来。”卫兵和军长于是用刀击杀他们，又把他们的尸体抛出去，然后往巴力庙的内室去了。他们又把巴力庙内的神柱搬出去烧了。他们毁坏了巴力的神柱，又拆毁了巴力庙，作为厕所，直到今日。这样，耶户从以色列中消灭了巴力。
