亚哈斯王打掉盆座四面镶着的心子，把盆从座上挪下来，又将铜海从驮海的铜牛上搬下来，放在铺石地；又因亚述王的缘故，将耶和华殿为安息日所盖的廊子和王从外入殿的廊子挪移，围绕耶和华的殿。

希西家就把耶和华殿里和王宫府库里所有的银子都给了他。那时，犹大王希西家将耶和华殿门上的金子和他自己包在柱上的金子都刮下来，给了亚述王。

亚述王提革拉毗列色上来，却没有帮助他，反倒欺凌他。亚哈斯从耶和华殿里和王宫中，并首领家内所取的财宝给了亚述王，这也无济于事。

于是亚撒从耶和华殿和王宫的府库里拿出金银来，送与住大马士革的亚兰王便哈达，说：

因此，主必使大河翻腾的水猛然冲来，就是亚述王和他所有的威势，必漫过一切的水道，涨过两岸；必冲入犹大，涨溢泛滥，直到颈项。以马内利啊，他展开翅膀，遍满你的地。”

他掘了坑，又挖深了，竟掉在自己所挖的阱里。他的毒害必临到他自己的头上；他的强暴必落到他自己的脑袋上。

耶和华必使亚述王攻击你的日子临到你和你的百姓，并你的父家，自从以法莲离开犹大以来，未曾有这样的日子。
