Amaziah, however, would not listen, so Jehoash king of Israel attacked. He and Amaziah king of Judah faced each other at Beth Shemesh in Judah.

But Amaziah wouldn’t listen. So Jehoash, the king of Israel, attacked. He and Amaziah, the king of Judah, faced each other in battle. The battle took place at Beth Shemesh in Judah.

But Amaziah would not listen. So Jehoash king of Israel went up, and he and Amaziah king of Judah faced one another in battle at Beth-shemesh, which belongs to Judah.

But Amaziah refused to listen, so King Jehoash of Israel mobilized his army against King Amaziah of Judah. The two armies drew up their battle lines at Beth shemesh in Judah.

But Amaziah would not listen, so King Jehoash of Israel advanced. He and King Amaziah of Judah met face to face at Beth-shemesh that belonged to Judah.

你們要觀察：如果約櫃往自己的地界伯示麥方向去，那麼就是耶和華對我們降下了這大災禍；如果不是這樣，我們就知道：不是耶和華的手擊打我們，而是偶然發生在我們身上的。」人們就這樣做：牽來兩頭哺乳期母牛，套在車上，把牛犢關在圈裡，然後把耶和華的約櫃以及那裝了金老鼠和金腫物雕像的盒子，都放在車上。母牛在通往伯示麥的路上直行，走在大道上，邊走邊叫，不偏離左右。非利士的首領們跟在牠們後面，直到伯示麥的邊界。伯示麥人正在平原收割小麥，他們舉目看見約櫃，就歡喜觀望。牛車來到伯示麥人約書亞的田間，就在那裡停住，那裡有一塊大石頭。伯示麥人劈開牛車的木料，然後把母牛作為燔祭獻給耶和華。利未人把耶和華的約櫃，以及它旁邊裝著金器的盒子卸下來，放在那塊大石頭上。伯示麥人當天向耶和華獻上燔祭，又獻上其他祭物。非利士的五個首領看到這些，當天就返回了以革倫。非利士人帶給耶和華作賠罪禮物的這些金腫物，一個是為阿實突，一個是為加沙，一個是為阿實基倫，一個是為迦特，一個是為以革倫。金老鼠是按著五個首領所管轄的非利士城市的總數，城市包括堅固城和無城牆的鄉鎮。至於那塊放置耶和華約櫃的大石頭，直到今天還在伯示麥人約書亞的田地裡。耶和華擊殺伯示麥人，因為他們擅自看了耶和華的約櫃裡面；他擊殺了民眾五萬零七十個人。耶和華大大擊殺民眾，民眾就悲慟。
