爾擊以東、心高而誇耀之、安居於家可耳、何為招禍、以致傾覆、猶大與爾偕亡乎、

今王既擊以東人、中心驕奢、以此為榮、深居九重、亦可已矣。何為自取其禍、欲與猶大族偕亡乎。

爾因擊敗以東人而心驕、以此為榮、安居於宮猶可、何為自取其禍、致己與猶大國偕亡乎、

You have indeed defeated Edom and now you are arrogant. Glory in your victory, but stay at home! Why ask for trouble and cause your own downfall and that of Judah also?”

It’s true that you have won the battle over Edom. So you are proud. Enjoy your success while you can. But stay home and enjoy it! Why ask for trouble? Why bring yourself crashing down? Why bring Judah down with you?”

You have indeed struck down Edom, and your heart has lifted you up. Be content with your glory, and stay at home, for why should you provoke trouble so that you fall, you and Judah with you?”

“ You have indeed defeated Edom, and you are proud of it. But be content with your victory and stay at home! Why stir up trouble that will only bring disaster on you and the people of Judah?”

You have indeed defeated Edom, and you have become overconfident. Enjoy your glory and stay at home. Why should you stir up such trouble that you fall— you and Judah with you?”

Thou hast indeed smitten Edom, and thy heart hath lifted thee up: glory thereof, and abide at home; for why shouldest thou meddle to thy hurt, that thou shouldest fall, even thou, and Judah with thee?

You have indeed defeated Edom, and you have become overconfident. Enjoy your glory and stay at home. Why should you stir up such trouble that you fall— you and Judah with you?”

Thou hast indeed smitten Edom, and thine heart hath lifted thee up: glory[ of this], and tarry at home: for why shouldest thou meddle to[ thy] hurt, that thou shouldest fall,[ even] thou, and Judah with thee?

You thoroughly defeated Edom and it has gone to your head! Gloat over your success, but stay in your palace. Why bring calamity on yourself? Why bring down yourself and Judah along with you?”

You have indeed struck Edom, and your heart has lifted you up. Enjoy the glory of it, and stay at home; for why should you meddle to your harm, that you fall, even you, and Judah with you?’”

止息紛爭是人的榮耀；而愚妄人都捲入爭執。

破敗以先，必有驕傲；絆跌之前，靈裡高慢。

易怒的人，挑動紛爭；不輕易發怒的，使爭辯平息。

如果人沒有惡待你，不要無故與他相爭。

不過他賜下更大的恩典，所以經上說：「神抵擋驕傲的人，賜恩典給謙卑的人。」

不可急於出去與人爭訟；否則，你的鄰人羞辱你時，你最後要怎麼做呢？

然而，他心裡高舉自己，靈裡變得剛硬，以致行事狂傲，就從王權的寶座上被廢黜，他的尊榮也被奪去了。他從世人中被趕出，他的心變得像獸的心一樣，他的住處與野驢在一起，他像牛那樣吃牧草，身體被天上的露水濕透，直到他明白：至高神在人的國中掌權，願意立誰就立誰治理國家。「至於你，他的繼位人伯沙撒啊！你雖然知道這一切，自己的心卻不降卑，反而對天上的主高舉自己，讓人把他殿中的器皿帶到你面前來，你和你的大臣們、妻子們、妃嬪們都用這些來喝酒；你稱讚那些不能看、不能聽、不能知——用金、銀、銅、鐵、木、石所做的神明，卻不尊崇那位掌握你的氣息、掌握你一切道路的神。

卑微的弟兄應當以自己被高舉而誇耀；

「或者，有哪一個君王要出去和別的君王交戰，不先坐下來考慮是否能夠用一萬兵去迎戰那用兩萬兵來攻打他的呢？否則，就會趁著他還遠的時候，差派特使去求問和平的事宜。

紛爭的開始，就如放開的水；捲入爭執之前，當放棄爭辯。

過路人捲入與自己無關的爭辯，就如人去揪住狗的耳朵。
