王吩咐希勒家大祭司和副祭司，以及把守殿门的，把那些为巴力和亚舍拉，以及天上万象所造的器皿，都从耶和华殿里搬出来，在耶路撒冷外汲沦的田间烧了，把灰拿到伯特利去。从前犹大列王所立拜偶像的祭司，在犹大城镇的丘坛和耶路撒冷周围烧香，现在王都废去，他们是向巴力和日、月、行星，以及天上万象烧香的人。他把亚舍拉从耶和华殿里搬到耶路撒冷外的汲沦溪，在汲沦溪边焚烧，打碎成灰，把灰撒在平民的坟上。

你务必杀他；你先下手，然后众百姓才下手，把他处死。

众人在他面前拆毁诸巴力的坛，砍断坛上高高的香坛，又把亚舍拉和雕刻的像，以及铸造的像打碎成灰，撒在向偶像献祭之人的坟上，

耶户对他的军官毕甲说：“把他抛在耶斯列人拿伯的田里。你当记得，你我一同驾车跟随他父亲亚哈的时候，耶和华对亚哈说了预言，耶和华说：‘我昨日看见拿伯的血和他众子的血，我发誓我必在这块田上报应你。’这是耶和华说的。现在你要照着耶和华的话，把他抛在这田里。”犹大王亚哈谢看见了，就沿着伯‧哈干的路逃跑。耶户追赶他，说：“把这人也击杀在车上，在靠近以伯莲的姑珥坡上。”他逃到米吉多，就死在那里。他的臣仆用车把他的尸体运回耶路撒冷，与他祖先同葬在大卫城，他自己的坟墓里。

于是众百姓到巴力庙去，拆毁了庙，打碎祭坛和偶像，又在坛前把巴力的祭司玛坦杀了。耶何耶大派官员在利未家的祭司手下看守耶和华的殿，他们是大卫所分派的，在耶和华殿中照摩西律法上所写，献燔祭给耶和华，又按大卫所定的，欢乐歌唱。耶何耶大又设立守卫把守耶和华殿的各门，无论因何事而不洁净的人，都不准进去。他又率领百夫长和贵族，与民间的官长，以及国中的众百姓，请王从耶和华的殿下来，由上门正中进入王宫，使王坐在国度的王位上。

偶像必全然废弃。

他将他们所铸的牛犊用火焚烧，磨得粉碎，撒在水面上，叫以色列人喝。

万军之耶和华说：“在那日，我要从地上除灭偶像的名，使它不再被记得；我也必使这地不再有先知，不再有污秽的灵。若还有人说预言，生他的父母必对他说：‘你不得存活，因为你假借耶和华的名说谎话。’生他的父母在他说预言时，要将他刺死。

他又玷污欣嫩子谷的陀斐特，不许人在那里使儿女经火献给摩洛。
