以利亞對他們說：“捉住巴力的先知，一個也不要讓他們逃脫。”於是眾人捉住他們。以利亞帶他們下到基順河邊，在那裡殺了他們。

至於那先知，或作夢的人，你們要把他處死，因為他說了叛逆的話，叛逆了那領你們出埃及地，救贖你脫離為奴之家的耶和華你們的神，要你離棄耶和華你的神吩咐你走的道路。這樣你就把那惡從你們中間除掉了。

他又打碎神柱，砍下亞舍拉，把死人的骨頭布滿那個地方。

他們上來攻打猶大，侵入境內，掠去了王宮的一切財物，又擄去了他的眾子和妻妾；除了他最小的兒子約哈斯以外，沒有給他留下一個兒子。

王吩咐希勒家大祭司、副祭司和守殿門的，把所有為巴力、亞舍拉和天上的萬象所製造的器皿，從耶和華殿裡搬出去，在耶路撒冷城外汲淪谷的田野，把它們燒了。然後把它們的灰燼帶到伯特利去。他廢除了從前猶大列王所立、在猶大各城的邱壇，和耶路撒冷的周圍焚香拜偶像的祭司。又廢除向巴力、日、月、星辰和天上萬象焚香的人。他把亞舍拉像從耶和華殿裡搬走，拿到耶路撒冷外的汲淪溪去，在汲淪溪把它燒毀，磨碎成灰，把灰撒在平民的墳墓上。

總要把他殺死，你要先向他動手，然後全民才動手打死他。

眾人在他面前拆毀了巴力的祭壇，他親自打碎了壇上高高的香壇，又把亞舍拉、雕像和鑄像砍碎成灰，撒在向這些偶像獻過祭的人的墳上。

他拆毀了祭壇，把亞舍拉和雕刻的偶像打碎，破碎了以色列全地所有的香壇，就回耶路撒冷去了。

耶戶對副官畢甲說：“把他抬起來，丟在耶斯列人拿伯的田地裡，因為我還記得你我一起駕車跟隨他父親亞哈的時候，耶和華曾宣告了這些有關亞哈的話：‘昨天我實在看見了拿伯的血和他兒子們的血（這是耶和華的宣告）；我要在這塊田地上報應你（這是耶和華的宣告）。’現在你要按著耶和華的話，把他抬起來丟在田裡。”猶大王亞哈謝看見這一切，就沿著通往伯哈干的路逃走。耶戶緊追著他，說：“還有他！”他們就在靠近以伯蓮的姑珥坡把他擊傷在戰車上。他逃到米吉多，就死在那裡。他的臣僕用車把他的屍體送到耶路撒冷，葬在大衛城他自己的墳墓，和他的祖先一同長眠。

於是眾民都去到巴力廟，把廟拆毀，打碎祭壇和偶像，又在祭壇前殺了巴力的祭司瑪坦。耶何耶大把看守耶和華殿的責任，交在利未支派的祭司手裡；這些利未支派的祭司是大衛分派在耶和華的殿中，照著摩西的律法所記的，給耶和華獻燔祭，又照著大衛所定的，歡樂歌唱。他又設立守門的看守耶和華殿的各門，無論為了甚麼事，不潔淨的人，都不能進去。他率領百夫長、貴族、民間的官長和國民，又把王從耶和華的殿領下來，從“上門”進入王宮，擁立王坐在王位上。

偶像卻必全然消逝。

又把他們所做的那牛犢拿過來，用火焚燒，磨到粉碎，撒在水面上，讓以色列人喝。

“到那日（這是萬軍之耶和華的宣告），我必從這地除掉偶像的名號，它們不再被人記念；我也必從這地除去假先知和污穢的靈。如果有人再說預言，他的親生父母必對他說：‘你不該活著，因為你奉耶和華的名說謊。’他說預言的時候，他的親生父母必把他刺死。

他又污穢在欣嫩子谷的陀斐特，不許人在那裡將兒女焚燒獻給摩洛（“將兒女焚燒獻給摩洛”直譯是“使兒女經過進入火中給摩洛”）。
