耶戶又給他們寫了第二封信，說：『你們若擁護我，聽從我的話，那麼明天大約這時候、你們要將你們主上的兒子那些人的頭取下來，帶到耶斯列來見我。』那時王的兒子七十人都住在城裏的大人們、將王子養大的、那些人家裏。

亞哈謝的母親亞他利雅見她的兒子死了，就起來剿滅猶大家王室所有的後裔。

他說：『他們若是為講和而出來的，要活捉着他們；若是為交戰而出來的，也要活捉着他們。』

耶戶討伐亞哈家的罪時候，遇見了猶大的首領們和亞哈謝的族弟兄們的兒子、那些伺候亞哈謝的，耶戶就把他們都殺了。

他走了以色列諸王所走的路，正如亞哈家所作的；因為他娶了亞哈的女兒做妻子，行永恆主所看為壞的事。

那麼你們就知道永恆主的話、永恆主指着亞哈家所說過的、一句沒有墜地落空；永恆主由他僕人以利亞經手所說的話、他都作成了。』這樣、凡屬亞哈家在耶斯列所剩下的人、他所有的贖業至親、知己和祭司、耶戶都擊殺掉了，殺到沒有給他剩下一個殘存的。
