he met some relatives of Ahaziah king of Judah and asked,“ Who are you?” They said,“ We are relatives of Ahaziah, and we have come down to greet the families of the king and of the queen mother.”

he saw some people. They were relatives of Ahaziah, the king of Judah. Jehu asked them,“ Who are you?” They said,“ We are Ahaziah’s relatives. We’ve come down to visit the families of the king and of his mother.”

Jehu met the relatives of Ahaziah king of Judah, and he said,“ Who are you?” And they answered,“ We are the relatives of Ahaziah, and we came down to visit the royal princes and the sons of the queen mother.”

約蘭於是回去，到耶斯列治傷，就是當他攻打亞蘭王哈薛時，亞蘭人在拉末擊傷他的。猶大王約蘭的兒子亞哈謝因為亞哈的兒子約蘭病了，所以下到耶斯列去探望他。

約蘭和他的祖先同睡；人把他埋葬在大衛城和他的祖先一起；他的兒子亞哈謝接續他作王。

他們上來攻打猶大，侵入境內，掠去了王宮的一切財物，又擄去了他的眾子和妻妾；除了他最小的兒子約哈斯以外，沒有給他留下一個兒子。

耶路撒冷的居民立了約蘭的小兒子亞哈謝接續他作王；因為那些和阿拉伯人同來攻營的匪徒，把亞哈謝的哥哥全都殺了。這樣，猶大王約蘭的兒子亞哈謝就作了王。亞哈謝登基的時候是二十二歲（“二十二歲”原文作“四十二歲”；現參照古譯本和王下8:26修譯）；他在耶路撒冷作王一年。他的母親名叫亞他利雅，是暗利的孫女。亞哈謝也隨從亞哈家的道路，因為他母親教唆他行惡。他行耶和華看為惡的事，好像亞哈家一樣，因為他的父親死了以後，亞哈家的人就教唆他，好使他滅亡。他隨從了他們的計謀，和以色列王亞哈的兒子約蘭一同到基列的拉末去，和亞蘭王哈薛交戰；亞蘭人擊傷了約蘭。於是約蘭回到耶斯列去，醫治他在拉末和亞蘭王交戰的時候所受的傷。猶大王約蘭的兒子亞哈謝，(“亞哈謝”：多數希伯來文抄本作“亞撒利雅”，可能是抄寫之誤或“亞哈謝”的另一種寫法；現根據各古譯本、十多份希伯來文抄本及王下8:29翻譯)，因亞哈的兒子約蘭病了，就下到耶斯列去看他。亞哈謝去見約蘭，就遇了害，這原是出於神；因為他去到以後，就和約蘭一同出去攻擊寧示的孫子耶戶。這耶戶就是耶和華所膏的，為要除滅亞哈家。耶戶討伐亞哈家的罪的時候，遇見了猶大的眾領袖和亞哈謝的兄弟的兒子，他們都是侍候亞哈謝的，耶戶把他們都殺了。耶戶追尋亞哈謝。那時，亞哈謝躲藏在撒瑪利亞，有人捉住他，把他帶到耶戶那裡，耶戶就殺了他，卻把他埋葬了，因為他們說：“他是約沙法的孫子；這約沙法是一心尋求耶和華的。”這樣，亞哈謝的家沒有一人有能力可以保持王權的。亞哈謝的母親亞他利雅見自己的兒子死了，就起來殺盡猶大家中所有王族的後裔。

約蘭就說：“備車。”他們就為他備了車。以色列王約蘭和猶大王亞哈謝出城，他們各自乘坐戰車出去見耶戶，就在耶斯列人拿伯的田間遇上了他。約蘭看見耶戶的時候，就說：“耶戶，平安嗎？”耶戶說：“你的母親耶洗別的淫行和邪術這麼多，還有平安嗎？”約蘭立刻把車調轉過來逃跑，對亞哈謝說：“亞哈謝啊，反了！”耶戶拉滿弓，射中約蘭的背；箭從他的心窩穿出，他就倒在自己的車上。耶戶對副官畢甲說：“把他抬起來，丟在耶斯列人拿伯的田地裡，因為我還記得你我一起駕車跟隨他父親亞哈的時候，耶和華曾宣告了這些有關亞哈的話：‘昨天我實在看見了拿伯的血和他兒子們的血（這是耶和華的宣告）；我要在這塊田地上報應你（這是耶和華的宣告）。’現在你要按著耶和華的話，把他抬起來丟在田裡。”猶大王亞哈謝看見這一切，就沿著通往伯哈干的路逃走。耶戶緊追著他，說：“還有他！”他們就在靠近以伯蓮的姑珥坡把他擊傷在戰車上。他逃到米吉多，就死在那裡。
