Now Ahaziah had fallen through the lattice of his upper room in Samaria and injured himself. So he sent messengers, saying to them,“ Go and consult Baal-Zebub, the god of Ekron, to see if I will recover from this injury.”

Ahaziah had fallen through the window of his upstairs room in Samaria. He had hurt himself. So he sent messengers to ask the god named Baal- Zebub for advice. Baal- Zebub was the god of the city of Ekron. Ahaziah said to the messengers,“ Go and ask Baal- Zebub whether I will get well again.”

One day Israel’s new king, Ahaziah, fell through the latticework of an upper room at his palace in Samaria and was seriously injured. So he sent messengers to the temple of Baal zebub, the god of Ekron, to ask whether he would recover.

He said to him,“ Yahweh says,‘ Because you have sent messengers to inquire of Baal Zebub, the god of Ekron, is it because there is no God in Israel to inquire of his word? Therefore you will not come down from the bed where you have gone up, but you will surely die.’”

Elisha came to Damascus; and Benhadad the king of Syria was sick. He was told,“ The man of God has come here.”The king said to Hazael,“ Take a present in your hand, and go, meet the man of God, and inquire of Yahweh by him, saying,‘ Will I recover from this sickness?’”So Hazael went to meet him, and took a present with him, even of every good thing of Damascus, forty camels’ burden, and came and stood before him, and said,“ Your son Benhadad king of Syria has sent me to you, saying,‘ Will I recover from this sickness?’”Elisha said to him,“ Go, tell him,‘ You will surely recover;’ however Yahweh has shown me that he will surely die.”

It is enough for the disciple that he be like his teacher, and the servant like his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebul, how much more those of his household!

But some of them said,“ He casts out demons by Beelzebul, the prince of the demons.”

Have the gods of the nations delivered them, which my fathers have destroyed, Gozan, Haran, Rezeph, and the children of Eden who were in Telassar?

because that they have forsaken me, and have worshiped Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, Chemosh the god of Moab, and Milcom the god of the children of Ammon. They have not walked in my ways, to do that which is right in my eyes, and to keep my statutes and my ordinances, as David his father did.

and have cast their gods into the fire; for they were no gods, but the work of men’s hands, wood and stone; therefore they have destroyed them.

But Yahweh’s angel said to Elijah the Tishbite,“ Arise, go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria, and tell them,‘ Is it because there is no God in Israel, that you go to inquire of Baal Zebub, the god of Ekron?

They said to him,“ A man came up to meet us, and said to us,‘ Go, return to the king who sent you, and tell him,“ Yahweh says,‘ Is it because there is no God in Israel, that you send to inquire of Baal Zebub, the god of Ekron? Therefore you will not come down from the bed where you have gone up, but you will surely die.’”’”

But when the Pharisees heard it, they said,“ This man does not cast out demons, except by Beelzebul, the prince of the demons.”Knowing their thoughts, Jesus said to them,“ Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand.If Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then will his kingdom stand?If I by Beelzebul cast out demons, by whom do your children cast them out? Therefore they will be your judges.

A certain young man named Eutychus sat in the window, weighed down with deep sleep. As Paul spoke still longer, being weighed down by his sleep, he fell down from the third floor and was taken up dead.

Is it not calamity to the unrighteous, and disaster to the workers of iniquity?

So they sent God’s ark to Ekron. As God’s ark came to Ekron, the Ekronites cried out, saying,“ They have brought the ark of the God of Israel here to us, to kill us and our people.”

“ Through the window she looked out, and cried: Sisera’s mother looked through the lattice.‘ Why is his chariot so long in coming? Why do the wheels of his chariots wait?’

A certain man drew his bow at random, and struck the king of Israel between the joints of the armor. Therefore he said to the driver of his chariot,“ Turn your hand, and carry me out of the battle; for I am severely wounded.”

Won’t you possess that which Chemosh your god gives you to possess? So whoever Yahweh our God has dispossessed from before us, them will we possess.

Take with you ten loaves of bread, some cakes, and a jar of honey, and go to him. He will tell you what will become of the child.”

My beloved is like a roe or a young deer. Behold, he stands behind our wall! He looks in at the windows. He glances through the lattice.

behold, Yahweh will strike your people with a great plague, including your children, your wives, and all your possessions;and you will have great sickness with a disease of your bowels, until your bowels fall out by reason of the sickness, day by day.’”
