昔我遺書使爾憂、雖曾悔之、今不悔矣、蓋知此書令爾憂者暫耳、

蓋前書雖曾使爾等憂戚、吾固無所悔也。雖然、吾亦忍痛而為之耳、豈欲見爾等有一日之憂戚乎？

Even if I caused you sorrow by my letter, I do not regret it. Though I did regret it— I see that my letter hurt you, but only for a little while—

食間、曰、我誠語汝、爾中一人、將賣我矣、眾憂甚、遞相問曰、主、我乎、

主回顧彼得、彼得憶主之言曰、鷄鳴之先、爾將三言不識我、遂出而痛哭、○

然慰卑微者之上帝、以提多之至慰我、

且我生身之父懲我、我尚敬之、況諸神之父、不更宜服之以得生乎、彼乃暫依己意而懲、惟此則為我之益、使我與其聖也、凡懲之之時、似非樂、而為憂、後則由懲生練而結和平之果、即義也、

耶和華歟、爾誘我、而我從焉、爾強於我而獲勝、我為話柄、竟日為人所侮、我每言時、則發聲呼曰、強暴毀滅、緣耶和華之言、終日受恥辱、被譏誚、我若云不復道之、不再藉其名而言、則我中心有如爇火、蘊於我骨、疲倦難忍、

我若令爾憂、則我所令憂者外、孰令我樂乎、昔特書此、恐我來時所當使我樂者、反令我憂、蓋我深信爾眾以我樂為樂也、昔我哀痛迫切、不勝涕泣、以書遺爾、非令爾憂、乃使爾知我愛爾甚也、○儻有使之憂者、非第使我憂、亦畧使爾眾憂、曰畧者、不欲深責之也、若人受罰於眾、已足矣、爾寧赦之、慰之、恐彼殷憂而至沉溺、故勸爾當顯其愛於彼焉、為此我曾遺書、欲知爾凡事承順之徵、爾所赦者、我亦赦之、若我有所赦、乃緣爾於基督前赦之也、免撒但取便於我、蓋其謀我非不知也、○

凡我所愛者、我責而懲之、故宜奮然改悔、

第因我以是語爾、憂充爾心矣、

三謂之曰、約翰子西門、爾愛我乎、彼得因耶穌三言爾愛我乎、則憂、曰、主、爾無不知、爾知我愛爾矣、耶穌曰、飼我羊、

摩西返、詣耶和華曰、主歟、奚苦斯民、何為遣我、自我覲法老、奉爾名與之言、彼益荼毒斯民、而爾未嘗拯之、

雖使人憂戚、尚循其慈惠之富、而加矜恤兮、

試觀爾依上帝旨而憂、生何如之慇懃、自訴、怨艾、恐懼、戀慕、熱衷、譴責、爾於斯悉自表為潔矣、
