‘ I know the distress you are suffering and your poverty( but you are rich). I also know the slander against you by those who call themselves Jews and really are not, but are a synagogue of Satan.

Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I say, rejoice!

through whom we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in the hope of God’s glory.Not only this, but we also rejoice in sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance,

But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice and service of your faith, I am glad and rejoice together with all of you.

Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe in him, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

If then you haven’t been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will entrust you with the true riches?And if you haven’t been trustworthy with someone else’s property, who will give you your own?

“ Blessed are you who hunger now, for you will be satisfied.“ Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh.

Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep.

And you became imitators of us and of the Lord, when you received the message with joy that comes from the Holy Spirit, despite great affliction.

How much better it is to acquire wisdom than gold; to acquire understanding is more desirable than silver.

But rejoice in the degree that you have shared in the sufferings of Christ, so that when his glory is revealed you may also rejoice and be glad.

“ Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

But we have this treasure in clay jars, so that the extraordinary power belongs to God and does not come from us.

So they left the council rejoicing because they had been considered worthy to suffer dishonor for the sake of the name.

“ Do not accumulate for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal.But accumulate for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal.

For“ physical exercise has some value, but godliness is valuable in every way. It holds promise for the present life and for the life to come.”

Listen, my dear brothers and sisters! Did not God choose the poor in the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom that he promised to those who love him?

For in fact you shared the sufferings of those in prison, and you accepted the confiscation of your belongings with joy, because you knew that you certainly had a better and lasting possession.

This brings you great joy, although you may have to suffer for a short time in various trials.Such trials show the proven character of your faith, which is much more valuable than gold– gold that is tested by fire, even though it is passing away– and will bring praise and glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.You have not seen him, but you love him. You do not see him now but you believe in him, and so you rejoice with an indescribable and glorious joy,

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and exhorting one another with all wisdom, singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, all with grace in your hearts to God.

Now if their transgression means riches for the world and their defeat means riches for the Gentiles, how much more will their full restoration bring?

So in all our distress and affliction, we were reassured about you, brothers and sisters, through your faith.For now we are alive again, if you stand firm in the Lord.For how can we thank God enough for you, for all the joy we feel because of you before our God?We pray earnestly night and day to see you in person and make up what may be lacking in your faith.

My brothers and sisters, consider it nothing but joy when you fall into all sorts of trials,because you know that the testing of your faith produces endurance.And let endurance have its perfect effect, so that you will be perfect and complete, not deficient in anything.

Tell them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, to be generous givers, sharing with others.

But Peter said,“ I have no silver or gold, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, stand up and walk!”

For out of great distress and anguish of heart I wrote to you with many tears, not to make you sad, but to let you know the love that I have especially for you.

So then, no more boasting about mere mortals! For everything belongs to you,whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or the present or the future. Everything belongs to you,and you belong to Christ, and Christ belongs to God.

For the LORD God is our sovereign protector. The LORD bestows favor and honor; he withholds no good thing from those who have integrity.

Always rejoice,

I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart.

I pray that according to the wealth of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inner person,

Now I rejoice in my sufferings for you, and I fill up in my physical body– for the sake of his body, the church– what is lacking in the sufferings of Christ.

For all these things are for your sake, so that the grace that is including more and more people may cause thanksgiving to increase to the glory of God.

About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the rest of the prisoners were listening to them.

For you were made rich in every way in him, in all your speech and in every kind of knowledge–

To me– less than the least of all the saints– this grace was given, to proclaim to the Gentiles the unfathomable riches of Christ

Indeed, he who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all– how will he not also, along with him, freely give us all things?

I do not say this to condemn you, for I told you before that you are in our hearts so that we die together and live together with you.I have great confidence in you; I take great pride on your behalf. I am filled with encouragement; I am overflowing with joy in the midst of all our suffering.For even when we came into Macedonia, our body had no rest at all, but we were troubled in every way– struggles from the outside, fears from within.But God, who encourages the downhearted, encouraged us by the arrival of Titus.We were encouraged not only by his arrival, but also by the encouragement you gave him, as he reported to us your longing, your mourning, your deep concern for me, so that I rejoiced more than ever.For even if I made you sad by my letter, I do not regret having written it( even though I did regret it, for I see that my letter made you sad, though only for a short time).Now I rejoice, not because you were made sad, but because you were made sad to the point of repentance. For you were made sad as God intended, so that you were not harmed in any way by us.For sadness as intended by God produces a repentance that leads to salvation, leaving no regret, but worldly sadness brings about death.

Rejoice and be glad because your reward is great in heaven, for they persecuted the prophets before you in the same way.

The one who conquers will inherit these things, and I will be his God and he will be my son.
