We are not like Moses, who would put a veil over his face to prevent the Israelites from seeing the end of what was passing away.

We are not like Moses. He used to cover his face with a veil. That was to keep the people of Israel from seeing the end of what was passing away.

摩西和他們說完了話，就用帕子蒙上臉。每逢摩西進到永恆主面前和他說話的時候，他總把帕子揭去，直到出來為止；他出來，便將永恆主所吩咐的對以色列人說，以色列人看摩西的臉面，見摩西臉上的皮膚射發光芒。摩西總再用帕子蒙上臉，直到他進去和永恆主說話才揭了去。

那屬致死職事的制度、用文字刻在石頭上的、尚且帶着榮光而立，甚至以色列人、因摩西臉上的榮光（雖那榮光漸漸消逝）、人也不能定睛看他的臉，

因為他自己就是我們的和平。他使我們、猶太人和外國人雙方合而為一，毁了中間隔斷的牆，毁了那敵態，而以自己的肉身、血與肉、廢掉了規例中誡命的律法，好把兩下在自己裏面創造一個新人類、而成就和平；

這一些原是以後之事的影兒，真體乃是屬基督的。

但「信」還未來到之先，我們都被監護在律法以下、直被圈着、等那以後來到的「信」顯示出來。這樣，律法就做了我們的童年導師、等候基督來到，使我們由於信得稱為義。

其實基督乃是律法的終極，叫一切信的人都歸於義的。

律法所有的既僅僅是將來美好事物的影兒，而不是那些事物的本體，它總不能用人們每年不斷供獻的同樣祭物使上前去敬拜的人完全無罪。若不然，這些祭物豈不早已停止、而不被供獻麼？因為禮拜的人已經儘一次地得了潔淨，完全不再有罪的意識了。其實在這些事上、每年反而使人記起罪來呢；因為公牛和山羊的血是不能把罪除掉的。所以基督進入世界的時候，他仿彿是用詩人的話來說：『祭物和供物、你未嘗願要過，你只為我豫備了身體以自獻為祭。全燔祭和為罪獻的祭、你未嘗喜悅過。於是我說：「看哪，我來了；上帝啊，我來是要遵行你旨意的」；關於我的事、經卷上已有記載了。』以上既說：『祭物和供物、全燔祭和為罪獻的祭、你未嘗願要過，也未嘗喜悅過（而這種祭物卻是按照律法而供獻的）；以後又說：『看哪，我來了、是要遵行你旨意的』。可見他是取消那先前的，為要立定那在後的啊。
