Was it a sin for me to lower myself in order to elevate you by preaching the gospel of God to you free of charge?

我因为白白传神的福音给你们，就自居卑微，叫你们高升，这算是我犯罪吗？

我贬低自己，为了使你们高升，因为我白白地传上帝的福音给你们，难道这算是我犯了错吗？

我自卑致爾高舉、傳爾上帝福音而無值、乃為罪乎、

我卑以自牧、傳上帝福音、不傷爾財、使爾高舉、是耶否耶、

我傳天主之福音於爾、而不費爾貲、自居卑微、使爾高舉、此為罪乎、

豈因吾之薄於己而厚於爾、乃反獲罪戾乎？

I preached God’s good news to you free of charge. When I did that, I was putting myself down in order to lift you up. Was this a sin?

Or did I commit a sin in humbling myself so that you might be exalted, because I preached God’s gospel to you free of charge?

Was I wrong when I humbled myself and honored you by preaching God’s Good News to you without expecting anything in return?

Or did I commit a sin by humbling myself so that you might be exalted, because I preached the gospel of God to you free of charge?

Or did I commit a sin by humbling myself so that you might be exalted, because I preached the gospel of God to you without charge?

Did I commit sin in humbling myself that you might be exalted, because I preached the gospel of God to you free of charge?

Or did I commit a sin in abasing myself that ye might be exalted, because I preached to you the gospel of God for nought?

Or did I commit a sin by humbling myself so that you might be exalted, because I preached the gospel of God to you free of charge?

Have I committed an offence in abasing myself that ye might be exalted, because I have preached to you the gospel of God freely?

Or did I commit a sin by humbling myself so that you could be exalted, because I proclaimed the gospel of God to you free of charge?

Or did I commit a sin in humbling myself that you might be exalted, because I preached to you God’s Good News free of charge?

How were you inferior to the other churches, except that I was never a burden to you? Forgive me this wrong!

We are fools for Christ, but you are so wise in Christ! We are weak, but you are strong! You are honored, we are dishonored!To this very hour we go hungry and thirsty, we are in rags, we are brutally treated, we are homeless.We work hard with our own hands. When we are cursed, we bless; when we are persecuted, we endure it;

Surely you remember, brothers and sisters, our toil and hardship; we worked night and day in order not to be a burden to anyone while we preached the gospel of God to you.

You yourselves know that these hands of mine have supplied my own needs and the needs of my companions.

By the humility and gentleness of Christ, I appeal to you— I, Paul, who am“ timid” when face to face with you, but“ bold” toward you when away!

Or is it only I and Barnabas who lack the right to not work for a living?

In the same way, the Lord has commanded that those who preach the gospel should receive their living from the gospel.But I have not used any of these rights. And I am not writing this in the hope that you will do such things for me, for I would rather die than allow anyone to deprive me of this boast.For when I preach the gospel, I cannot boast, since I am compelled to preach. Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel!If I preach voluntarily, I have a reward; if not voluntarily, I am simply discharging the trust committed to me.What then is my reward? Just this: that in preaching the gospel I may offer it free of charge, and so not make full use of my rights as a preacher of the gospel.

After this, Paul left Athens and went to Corinth.There he met a Jew named Aquila, a native of Pontus, who had recently come from Italy with his wife Priscilla, because Claudius had ordered all Jews to leave Rome. Paul went to see them,and because he was a tentmaker as they were, he stayed and worked with them.

If others have this right of support from you, shouldn’t we have it all the more? But we did not use this right. On the contrary, we put up with anything rather than hinder the gospel of Christ.

nor did we eat anyone’s food without paying for it. On the contrary, we worked night and day, laboring and toiling so that we would not be a burden to any of you.
