我事天主以熱心、亦為爾如此熱心、蓋我已為一夫聘爾、將爾如貞潔童女、獻於基督、

蓋我為天主之故、熱中於爾、甚至有患得患失之情緒。吾既將爾許配良人、固願爾好自保持貞節、克配基督。

I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy. I promised you to one husband, to Christ, so that I might present you as a pure virgin to him.

My jealousy for you comes from God himself. I promised to give you to only one husband. That husband is Christ. I wanted to be able to give you to him as if you were a pure virgin.

For I feel a divine jealousy for you, since I betrothed you to one husband, to present you as a pure virgin to Christ.

For I am jealous for you with the jealousy of God himself. I promised you as a pure bride to one husband— Christ.

He lifted up his eyes and looked. Behold, there were camels coming.Rebekah lifted up her eyes, and when she saw Isaac, she got off the camel.She said to the servant,“ Who is the man who is walking in the field to meet us?” The servant said,“ It is my master.” She took her veil, and covered herself.The servant told Isaac all the things that he had done.Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah’s tent, and took Rebekah, and she became his wife. He loved her. So Isaac was comforted after his mother’s death.

I am afraid for you, that I might have wasted my labor for you.
