弟兄们，我们不愿意你们不明白我们在亚细亚省所遭受的患难：我们所受的压力远远过于我们的承受能力，甚至连活下去的希望也没有了。

弟兄们，我们不要你们不晓得，我们从前在亚细亚遭遇苦难，被压太重，力不能胜，甚至连活命的指望都绝了；

弟兄们，我们不要你们不知道，我们从前在亚细亚遭遇苦难，因受到无法忍受的压力，甚至连活命的指望都没有了。

弟兄们，我们不要你们不知道，我们从前在亚细亚遭遇苦难，因受到无法忍受的压力，甚至连活命的指望都没有了。

弟兄們，我們不願意你們不明白我們在亞細亞省所遭受的患難：我們所受的壓力遠遠過於我們的承受能力，甚至連活下去的希望也沒有了。

兄弟乎、我欲爾知、我在亞西亞遭難、見壓特甚、勢不克勝、至絕生望、

吾欲兄弟知、吾在亞西亞遭苦、見壓特甚、勢不可當、欲保生命、已絕其望、

兄弟、我不欲爾不知、我在亞西亞遭難、被迫特甚、勢不可當、致絕保生命之望、

吾儕在亞西亞所遭遇之患難、不欲兄弟不之知也。當時吾儕所受之困阨、實非人力之所能當者、且自謂必不能倖免矣。

We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about the troubles we experienced in the province of Asia. We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired of life itself.

Brothers and sisters, we want you to know about the hard times we had in Asia Minor. We were having a lot of trouble. It was far more than we could stand. We even thought we were going to die.

For we do not want you to be unaware, brothers, of the affliction we experienced in Asia. For we were so utterly burdened beyond our strength that we despaired of life itself.

We think you ought to know, dear brothers and sisters, about the trouble we went through in the province of Asia. We were crushed and overwhelmed beyond our ability to endure, and we thought we would never live through it.

We don’t want you to be unaware, brothers and sisters, of our affliction that took place in Asia. We were completely overwhelmed— beyond our strength— so that we even despaired of life itself.

For we do not want you to be unaware, brothers and sisters, of our affliction which occurred in Asia, that we were burdened excessively, beyond our strength, so that we despaired even of life.

For we do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, of our trouble which came to us in Asia: that we were burdened beyond measure, above strength, so that we despaired even of life.

For we would not have you ignorant, brethren, concerning our affliction which befell us in Asia, that we were weighed down exceedingly, beyond our power, insomuch that we despaired even of life:

For we don’t want you to be unaware, brothers, of our affliction that took place in Asia: we were completely overwhelmed— beyond our strength— so that we even despaired of life.

For we would not, brethren, have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of measure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even of life:

For we do not want you to be unaware, brothers and sisters, regarding the affliction that happened to us in the province of Asia, that we were burdened excessively, beyond our strength, so that we despaired even of living.

For we don’t desire to have you uninformed, brothers, concerning our affliction which happened to us in Asia, that we were weighed down exceedingly, beyond our power, so much that we despaired even of life.

我在以弗所与野兽搏斗，如果按人的意思来说，对我有什么好处呢？如果死人不会复活，就“让我们吃吃喝喝吧，因为明天我们就要死了。”

不过我们有这宝物在瓦器里，为要显明这极大的能力是出于神，不是出于我们。我们处处受患难，却不被压碎；心里困惑，却没有绝望；受逼迫，却不被撇弃；被打倒，却没有灭亡。我们身上总是带着耶稣的死，好让耶稣的生命也在我们身上显明出来。的确，我们这些活着的人，为了耶稣的缘故，总是被置于死地，好让耶稣的生命也显明在我们这会死的肉体上。这样，死亡在我们里面做工，而生命却在你们里面做工。

原来，为了有功效的工作，一个大门向我敞开了，不过反对的人也很多。

你们已经饱足了，已经富有了，没有我们，自己就做王了！我真希望你们真做王，好让我们也与你们一同做王！

就在这时候，为了这道发生了不小的骚动。原来，有一个名叫迪米特斯的银匠，是制造阿蒂米丝女神银龛的，给工匠们带来不少的生意。迪米特斯召集了他们，以及周围同行的工人，说：“各位，你们知道，我们是由这生意发财的。可是你们看见了也听见了，这个保罗不仅在以弗所也几乎在全亚细亚省，说服、引诱了一大群人，说‘人手所造的不是神’。这样，不仅我们这行业有被轻蔑的危险，连伟大女神阿蒂米丝的庙也要被看为什么都不是，并且这受全亚细亚省和普天下敬拜的女神的威荣，也要被毁灭了。”众人听了，就满腔怒火，喊叫说：“以弗所人伟大的阿蒂米丝！”于是满城一片混乱。他们抓住与保罗同来的马其顿人盖尤斯和亚里达古，一齐冲进剧场。保罗虽然想要进到民众当中，但门徒们不让他去。还有一些亚细亚省的官员，是保罗的朋友，也派人劝他不要自己冒险到剧场去。这时候，有人喊这个、有人喊那个，因为集会的人一片混乱，大多数人不知道为了什么缘故聚集。犹太人把亚历山大推到前面的时候，人群中有些人要他说话。亚历山大就挥一下手，想要对民众申辩。可是大家一认出他是犹太人，就同声呼喊：“以弗所人伟大的阿蒂米丝！”大约喊了两个小时。后来，城里的书记官安抚了民众，说：“各位以弗所人哪，到底有什么人不知道以弗所城是伟大阿蒂米丝庙和那从天落下的神像的看守者呢？

大卫又起誓说：“你父亲深知我在你眼前蒙恩，就想：‘不要让约拿单知道这事，免得他忧伤。’然而我指着耶和华的永生和你的生命起誓：我离死只有一步！”

大卫心里说：“我总有一天会死在扫罗手中，已经别无选择，只能逃到非利士人之地；这样，扫罗就会放弃，不会继续在以色列全境寻索我，我也就逃脱他的手了。”
