羅波安王自強，在耶路撒冷作王。他登基的時候年四十一歲，在耶路撒冷，就是耶和華從以色列眾支派中所選擇立他名的城，作王十七年。羅波安的母親名叫拿瑪，是亞捫人。

然而，耶和華－以色列的上帝在我父的全家揀選我作以色列的王，直到永遠。因他揀選猶大為領袖，在猶大家中揀選我父家，在我父的眾兒子裏喜悅我，立我作全以色列的王。

卻揀選猶大支派，揀選他所喜愛的錫安山；建造他的聖所如同高峯，又像他所建立的永存之地。他揀選他的僕人大衛，從羊圈中將他召來，

耶和華本為大！在我們上帝的城中，在他的聖山上，當受大讚美。
