“ When your people go to war against their enemies, wherever you send them, and when they pray to you toward this city you have chosen and the temple I have built for your Name,

“ Suppose your people go to war against their enemies. It doesn’t matter where you send them. And suppose they pray to you toward this city you have chosen. They pray toward the temple I’ve built for your Name.

“ If your people go out to battle against their enemies, by whatever way you shall send them, and they pray to you toward this city that you have chosen and the house that I have built for your name,

“ If your people go out where you send them to fight their enemies, and if they pray to you by turning toward this city you have chosen and toward this Temple I have built to honor your name,

And for this[ cause] Hezekiah the king, and the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz, prayed and cried to heaven.And the LORD sent an angel, which cut off all the mighty men of valour, and the leaders and captains in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned with shame of face to his own land. And when he was come into the house of his god, they that came forth of his own bowels slew him there with the sword.

When thou goest out to battle against thine enemies, and seest horses, and chariots,[ and] a people more than thou, be not afraid of them: for the LORD thy God[ is] with thee, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.And it shall be, when ye are come nigh unto the battle, that the priest shall approach and speak unto the people,And shall say unto them, Hear, O Israel, ye approach this day unto battle against your enemies: let not your hearts faint, fear not, and do not tremble, neither be ye terrified because of them;For the LORD your God[ is] he that goeth with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.

And the LORD said unto Joshua, Fear not, neither be thou dismayed: take all the people of war with thee, and arise, go up to Ai: see, I have given into thy hand the king of Ai, and his people, and his city, and his land:And thou shalt do to Ai and her king as thou didst unto Jericho and her king: only the spoil thereof, and the cattle thereof, shall ye take for a prey unto yourselves: lay thee an ambush for the city behind it.So Joshua arose, and all the people of war, to go up against Ai: and Joshua chose out thirty thousand mighty men of valour, and sent them away by night.And he commanded them, saying, Behold, ye shall lie in wait against the city,[ even] behind the city: go not very far from the city, but be ye all ready:And I, and all the people that[ are] with me, will approach unto the city: and it shall come to pass, when they come out against us, as at the first, that we will flee before them,( For they will come out after us) till we have drawn them from the city; for they will say, They flee before us, as at the first: therefore we will flee before them.Then ye shall rise up from the ambush, and seize upon the city: for the LORD your God will deliver it into your hand.And it shall be, when ye have taken the city,[ that] ye shall set the city on fire: according to the commandment of the LORD shall ye do. See, I have commanded you.

I have surely built thee an house to dwell in, a settled place for thee to abide in for ever.

Avenge the children of Israel of the Midianites: afterward shalt thou be gathered unto thy people.And Moses spake unto the people, saying, Arm some of yourselves unto the war, and let them go against the Midianites, and avenge the LORD of Midian.Of every tribe a thousand, throughout all the tribes of Israel, shall ye send to the war.So there were delivered out of the thousands of Israel, a thousand of[ every] tribe, twelve thousand armed for war.And Moses sent them to the war, a thousand of[ every] tribe, them and Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest, to the war, with the holy instruments, and the trumpets to blow in his hand.

And there came out against them Zerah the Ethiopian with an host of a thousand thousand, and three hundred chariots; and came unto Mareshah.Then Asa went out against him, and they set the battle in array in the valley of Zephathah at Mareshah.And Asa cried unto the LORD his God, and said, LORD,[ it is] nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: help us, O LORD our God; for we rest on thee, and in thy name we go against this multitude. O LORD, thou[ art] our God; let not man prevail against thee.So the LORD smote the Ethiopians before Asa, and before Judah; and the Ethiopians fled.

And the LORD sent thee on a journey, and said, Go and utterly destroy the sinners the Amalekites, and fight against them until they be consumed.

Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass.

But I have chosen Jerusalem, that my name might be there; and have chosen David to be over my people Israel.

Now after the death of Joshua it came to pass, that the children of Israel asked the LORD, saying, Who shall go up for us against the Canaanites first, to fight against them?And the LORD said, Judah shall go up: behold, I have delivered the land into his hand.

And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, It[ is] the king of Israel. Therefore they compassed about him to fight: but Jehoshaphat cried out, and the LORD helped him; and God moved them[ to depart] from him.

What shall[ one] then answer the messengers of the nation? That the LORD hath founded Zion, and the poor of his people shall trust in it.

Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them,[ even] to the children of Israel.Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast.There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses,[ so] I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

And Judah gathered themselves together, to ask[ help] of the LORD: even out of all the cities of Judah they came to seek the LORD.

If thy people go out to battle against their enemy, whithersoever thou shalt send them, and shall pray unto the LORD toward the city which thou hast chosen, and[ toward] the house that I have built for thy name:Then hear thou in heaven their prayer and their supplication, and maintain their cause.

Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.
