Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.

Are there[ any] among the vanities of the Gentiles that can cause rain? or can the heavens give showers?[ art] not thou he, O LORD our God? therefore we will wait upon thee: for thou hast made all these[ things].

What man[ is] he that feareth the LORD? him shall he teach in the way[ that] he shall choose.

Shew me thy ways, O LORD; teach me thy paths.Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou[ art] the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.

Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where[ is] the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk[ therein].

Also by watering he wearieth the thick cloud: he scattereth his bright cloud:And it is turned round about by his counsels: that they may do whatsoever he commandeth them upon the face of the world in the earth.He causeth it to come, whether for correction, or for his land, or for mercy.Hearken unto this, O Job: stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God.

That the LORD thy God may shew us the way wherein we may walk, and the thing that we may do.

Ask ye of the LORD rain in the time of the latter rain;[ so] the LORD shall make bright clouds, and give them showers of rain, to every one grass in the field.

Good and upright[ is] the LORD: therefore will he teach sinners in the way.

Neither say they in their heart, Let us now fear the LORD our God, that giveth rain, both the former and the latter, in his season: he reserveth unto us the appointed weeks of the harvest.

When heaven is shut up, and there is no rain, because they have sinned against thee; if they pray toward this place, and confess thy name, and turn from their sin, when thou afflictest them:Then hear thou in heaven, and forgive the sin of thy servants, and of thy people Israel, that thou teach them the good way wherein they should walk, and give rain upon thy land, which thou hast given to thy people for an inheritance.

And they took them: and Elijah brought them down to the brook Kishon, and slew them there.And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink; for[ there is] a sound of abundance of rain.So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees,And said to his servant, Go up now, look toward the sea. And he went up, and looked, and said,[ There is] nothing. And he said, Go again seven times.And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea, like a man’s hand. And he said, Go up, say unto Ahab, Prepare[ thy chariot], and get thee down, that the rain stop thee not.And it came to pass in the mean while, that the heaven was black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. And Ahab rode, and went to Jezreel.

And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This[ is] the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.

Thou, O God, didst send a plentiful rain, whereby thou didst confirm thine inheritance, when it was weary.
