He also rebelled against King Nebuchadnezzar, who had made him take an oath in God’s name. He became stiff-necked and hardened his heart and would not turn to the Lord, the God of Israel.

厥後蓄異謀、遣使與埃及王瑣通好、歲貢之物不復進納、亞述王知而禁錮之、

行惡於耶和華前、效約雅金所為、故耶和華怒耶路撒冷、猶大之民、咸驅逐之、西底家叛巴比倫王。

干耶和華震怒、耶路撒冷猶大之民、咸被驅逐。

日月未逝、宜及時相勸勉、恐迷於罪、而剛愎自用、

爾如剛暴、禁阻我民、

加以訓誨、使服爾律例、彼妄自誇大、不從爾命、爾之法度、遵之者則得生、彼故犯之、強項難馴、背命不聽。

當時之民、即我列祖、妄自矜詡、強項不馴、不聽從爾命、不追念爾所行之異跡、倔強猶昔、背爾立牧、歸於服役之地、乃爾特加赦宥、仁慈矜憫、恆忍施恩、不棄斯民。

約書亞與基遍人修好立約、以存其生。會長加以誓。

我知爾剛愎性成、鐵項銅額、

抑藐視其鴻慈、寛容、恆忍、不知上帝之仁愛、導爾悔改乎、乃爾剛愎、罔有悛心、積愆干怒、待上帝震怒、義鞫顯日、

法老少覺寛舒、剛愎厥心、仍不聽從、而耶和華前言應矣。

耶和華諭我曰、當告違逆之族、云、爾知是乎、巴比倫王至耶路撒冷、虜其王公牧伯、至於巴比倫、與王子結約、加以盟誓、取其世家為質、使國為卑、不復振興、但守盟約、猶可自保。乃王子背巴比倫王約、遣使至埃及、欲其率軍馬以至、彼行是事、豈能亨通、豈能免難、爽約之人、豈能獲救。我耶和華指己而誓、王子既為巴比倫王所立、藐視其主、爽其盟約、則必至巴比倫而沒、敵既築壘建營、欲滅邑眾、法老雖率旅眾多、以助其戰、亦必不利、蓋王子於立約之後、不以盟誓為重、而爽其約、故不能免難。主耶和華又曰、彼藐視約言、而背我命、我指己而誓、必罰其罪、罹之以網羅、陷之以坎阱、曳至巴比倫、在彼降災、以罰其罪、

勿剛愎乃心、如昔民之抵觸我、試我於野、

初基遍人不屬以色列族、乃亞摩哩族遺民。以色列族與之盟約、掃羅為以色列猶大二族熱中而殺之、至是大闢召基遍人、
