約西亞的眾首領也樂意將犧牲給百姓和祭司利未人；又有管理神殿的希勒家、撒迦利亞、耶歇將羊羔二千六百隻，牛三百隻，給祭司作逾越節的祭物。

利未人見銀子多了，就把櫃擡到王所派的司事面前；王的書記和大祭司的屬員來將櫃倒空，仍放在原處。日日都是這樣，積蓄的銀子甚多。王與耶何耶大將銀子交給耶和華殿裏辦事的人，他們就雇了石匠、木匠重修耶和華的殿，又雇了鐵匠、銅匠修理耶和華的殿。工人操作，漸漸修成，將神殿修造得與從前一樣，而且甚是堅固。工程完了，他們就把其餘的銀子拿到王與耶何耶大面前，用以製造耶和華殿供奉所用的器皿和調羹，並金銀的器皿。耶何耶大在世的時候，眾人常在耶和華殿裏獻燔祭。

他們將奉到耶和華殿的銀子運出來的時候，祭司希勒家偶然得了摩西所傳耶和華的律法書。希勒家對書記沙番說：「我在耶和華殿裏得了律法書。」遂將書遞給沙番。

王吩咐大祭司希勒家和副祭司，並把門的，將那為巴力和亞舍拉，並天上萬象所造的器皿，都從耶和華殿裏搬出來，在耶路撒冷外汲淪溪旁的田間燒了，把灰拿到伯特利去。

弟兄們，我還有未盡的話：凡是真實的、可敬的、公義的、清潔的、可愛的、有美名的，若有甚麼德行，若有甚麼稱讚，這些事你們都要思念。

這事既都完畢，在那裏的以色列眾人就到猶大的城邑，打碎柱像，砍斷木偶，又在猶大、便雅憫、以法蓮、瑪拿西遍地將邱壇和祭壇拆毀淨盡。於是以色列眾人各回各城，各歸各地。

「你去見大祭司希勒家，使他將奉到耶和華殿的銀子，就是守門的從民中收聚的銀子，數算數算，交給耶和華殿裏辦事的人，使他們轉交耶和華殿裏做工的人，好修理殿的破壞之處，就是轉交木匠和工人，並瓦匠，又買木料和鑿成的石頭修理殿宇，將銀子交在辦事的人手裏，不與他們算帳，因為他們辦事誠實。」

吩咐希勒家與沙番的兒子亞希甘、米迦的兒子亞比頓、書記沙番，和王的臣僕亞撒雅說：

書記沙番又對王說：「祭司希勒家遞給我一卷書。」沙番就在王面前讀那書。

於是，希勒家和王所派的眾人都去見女先知戶勒大。戶勒大是掌管禮服沙龍的妻，沙龍是哈斯拉的孫子、特瓦的兒子。戶勒大住在耶路撒冷第二區；他們請問於她。
