约西亚手下的众领袖也自愿把祭牲送给人民、祭司和利未人；又有神殿的总管希勒家、撒迦利亚和耶歇，也把羔羊二千六百只和公牛三百头，送给祭司作逾越节的祭牲。

利未人把银柜抬到王指定负责这事的人那里的时候，他们看见税银很多，王的书记和大祭司的属员就来把银柜倒空，然后抬回原处。天天都是这样，所以收集了很多银子。王和耶何耶大把银子交给耶和华殿的办事人员，他们就雇了石匠和木匠，重建耶和华的殿，又雇了铁匠和铜匠，重建耶和华的殿。作工的人不住工作，重修的工程在他们手下顺利进行；他们把神的殿重建得和先前一样，并且非常坚固。他们完工以后，就把剩下的银子送到王和耶何耶大面前，用来制造耶和华殿里的器皿、供奉和献祭所用的器皿、盘子，以及各种金银器皿。耶何耶大在世的日子，众人都常在耶和华的殿里献燔祭。

他们把献给耶和华殿的银子拿出来的时候，希勒家祭司发现了耶和华藉摩西所传的律法书。希勒家对书记沙番说：“我在耶和华的殿里发现了律法书。”希勒家就把书交给沙番。

王吩咐希勒家大祭司、副祭司和守殿门的，把所有为巴力、亚舍拉和天上的万象所制造的器皿，从耶和华殿里搬出去，在耶路撒冷城外汲沦谷的田野，把它们烧了。然后把它们的灰烬带到伯特利去。

最后，弟兄们，凡是真实的、庄重的、公正的、纯洁的、可爱的、声誉好的，无论是什么美德，什么称赞，这些事你们都应当思念。

这一切都作完了，所有在那里的以色列人就都出去，到犹大的各城，打碎神柱，砍下亚舍拉；又在犹大、便雅悯、以法莲和玛拿西各地，把邱坛和祭坛完全拆毁。然后以色列众人都各回各城，各归自己的地业去了。

“你上去到希勒家大祭司那里，叫他把献给耶和华殿的银子，就是守门的从人民所收集的，结算一下。然后要他们把银子交到在耶和华殿管理工匠的人手中，他们可以把银子交付在耶和华殿修补破坏的地方的工匠，就是交给木匠、建筑工人、石匠，又购买木材和凿好的石头，用来修理圣殿破坏的地方。银子交在他们手中，不用和他们算帐，因为他们办事诚实。”

吩咐希勒家和沙番的儿子亚希甘、米迦的儿子亚比顿、书记沙番，以及王的臣仆亚撒雅，说：

书记沙番又告诉王，说：“希勒家祭司还交给我一卷书卷。”于是沙番在王面前诵读那书。

于是希勒家和王所差派的人（《马索拉文本》没有“差派的人”）去见女先知户勒大。户勒大是掌管礼服的沙龙的妻子；沙龙是哈斯拉的孙子、特瓦的儿子；户勒大住在耶路撒冷第二区；他们对户勒大这样说了。
