The king stood by his pillar and renewed the covenant in the presence of the Lord— to follow the Lord and keep his commands, statutes and decrees with all his heart and all his soul, and to obey the words of the covenant written in this book.

The king stood next to his pillar. He agreed to the terms of the covenant in front of the Lord. The king promised to serve the Lord and obey his commands, directions and rules. He promised to obey them with all his heart and with all his soul. So the king promised to obey the terms of the covenant that were written in that book.

And the king stood in his place and made a covenant before the Lord, to walk after the Lord and to keep his commandments and his testimonies and his statutes, with all his heart and all his soul, to perform the words of the covenant that were written in this book.

The king took his place of authority beside the pillar and renewed the covenant in the Lord’s presence. He pledged to obey the Lord by keeping all his commands, laws, and decrees with all his heart and soul. He promised to obey all the terms of the covenant that were written in the scroll.

望見王循常例立於柱側、百夫長與吹角者侍於王側、四境之民懽忻吹角、亞他利雅裂衣、呼曰、叛矣、叛矣、

立約、一心一意尋求其列祖之上帝耶和華、

今我有意與以色列之上帝耶和華立約、俾其烈怒轉離我儕、

所羅門曾造銅臺、長五肘、寬五肘、高三肘、置於院中、遂立其上、在以色列會眾前、屈膝而跪、向天張手、

皆從同宗顯者、發誓設詛、必遵上帝僕摩西所傳上帝之律、守我主耶和華一切誡命、律例典章、

面錫安而詢其事曰、其來、連屬於耶和華、結永久弗忘之約、○

今耶穌得更美之執事、以其為中保於愈善之約、乃於愈善之許而立者、倘前約無缺、則無庸立後約矣、惟視其有缺、則曰、主云、日將至矣、我與以色列家、及猶大家必立新約、非依我與其先祖所立之約、即在援其手導之出埃及時者、主云、彼不恆守我約、故我弗眷顧之、又云、斯日之後我與以色列家所立之約、乃以我律置其衷銘其心、我於彼為上帝、彼於我為民、勿須各訓其鄰里及其兄弟云、宜識主、蓋自卑至尊、皆必識我、以我將寬恕其不義、不復記其罪愆、約既曰新、則以前者為舊、夫舊而漸衰者、殆近於消滅矣、

今爾有眾、牧伯、族長、長老、有司、以色列諸丁男、爾之子女妻室、營中賓旅、自採薪者、及汲水者、俱立於爾上帝耶和華前、使爾與於爾上帝耶和華之約與誓、即其今日與爾所立者、彼以爾為己民、己為爾之上帝、踐其前言、循其與爾列祖亞伯拉罕以撒雅各所誓者、此約與誓、我不第與爾曹立也、凡今日於我上帝耶和華前、與我同在、及不同在者、亦與立之、

越至七年、耶何耶大遣人召迦利族與衛士之百夫長、導入耶和華室、與之立約、使在耶和華室發誓、以王子示之、

猶大人咸喜此誓、因其盡心而誓、盡意尋求耶和華而遇之、耶和華亦錫之四境綏安、

爾公義之律例、我曾立誓為證、必守之兮、

當盡心盡性盡力、愛爾上帝耶和華、

我以爾法度為永業、蓋為我心所悅兮、我專心從爾典章、至於終極兮、○

君入、必由外門之廊、立於門柱之側、祭司為備燔祭酬恩祭、君拜於門閾、然後出、而門不閉、至於日暮、

循例各立其所、遵上帝僕摩西之律、祭司由利未人手、受血而沃之、

對曰、爾當盡心、盡性、盡力、盡意、愛主爾之上帝、亦當愛鄰如己、耶穌曰、爾所對是也、行此則生、彼欲自義、謂耶穌曰、誰為我鄰、

摩西取血、半盛於盂、半灑於壇、宣讀約書、俾民聽聞、僉曰、耶和華所言、我悉遵行、摩西以血灑民曰、此血係乎盟約、即耶和華依此詞、與爾所立者、○

凡其所行、或供上帝室之役、或遵律守誡、求其上帝、皆一心行之、無不亨通、

是日約書亞與民立約、為之定典章律例於示劍、

緣此、我立盟約、書之於籍、我之牧伯、利未人祭司、鈐之以印、

耶和華在何烈、與以色列人立約、此外又在摩押、諭摩西與以色列人立約、其言如左、
